I’ve just finished my 7th cycle out of 8 of CVD, sleeping is a big problem so my consultant lets me spread the Dex intake over 2 mornings which seems to help. It is difficult to determine which of the drugs are causing the  other side effects such as disorientation, forgetfulness, tiredness, weight gain and visual disturbances, to name but a few.  I have the treatment on Mondays and the side effects are definitely worse on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, just about back to normal in time to start again on the following week!!

Having seen Pete’s reply I must ask my consultant about Prednisolone.

I found when taking Dex as part of CDT treatment for 8 months last year I put on about 20 lbs and gained 6 inches around the waist. Fortunately all these gains all went within 8-10 weeks of stopping treatment so don’t worry, it will go.

After 9 months plateau I’m have now been on Dex again with Velcade and Cyclophosphamide  and have gained almost a stone in 8 months but I’m quite confident that it will dissapear when the treatment stops in 5 weeks time.

I’m glad to hear that you are able to enjoy Guinness again, there is light at the end of the tunnel.

I had floaters in one eye for about 5 months whilst on CDT but then cleared up on it’s own. It was mostly  when looking down, it did play havoc with my golf for a while.

Hi Mavis,

Thanks for that, I remember the only foods I were able to enjoy were pickled gherkins, I think the vinegar and saltiness helped the same as your salt and vinegar munchies.  Ice cream was ok as well!

Thanks jcr, I have just bought some pineapple and will give it a try.  I’m told frozen grapes might help as well.

On another subject, the Dex has definitely made my arthritic fingers much less painful, every cloud has a silver lining.
