    Hi Lottie,

Thanks so much for the update. I last posted in January saying I was most worried about the Hickman Line and then they decided a Picc Line would suffice after all! So I was admitted last week and had the melphalan last thurs and successful transplant the following day. So far the only side effect has been nausea and fatigue. The hospital staff have been brilliant at just making me a slice of toast when that’s all I fancied. I actually started on the protein shakes ok but when the nausea kicked in I couldn’t even bear to look at the bottle! They are finding some other varieties of shakes or juices which I can try today. I am armed and ready with things waiting for more nasty side effects, I think better to be prepared then pleasantly surprised if they aren’t so bad! Good luck on your continued recuperation.

    Good luck Lottie!
I seem to be following you on this journey! I haven’t been given a definite date for my SCT yet, just to expect it from mid Jan. I had my 6 wk consultation just before Christmas and everything was stable so that was a relief. Got an appointment at the wig salon coming up. Can you, or anyone, tell me how you go on having the Hickman line put in? Think I’m more worried about that than anything! I was expecting to have a Picc line but was told that because my veins are narrow and blood trickles out of me (had to use femeral artery for harvesting), that this was the better option?
    Thanks,
    Liz

    Hi Lottie
So sorry to hear about the stressful time you have been having. I had a successful harvest earlier this month and am now waiting for a date for my transplant which I’m aware won’t be until sometime in the new year. My worry, which I think Jane has answered somewhat, is what happens if my levels rise again due to a delay? I’m not on any treatment at all right now (I had 4 cycles of DDVT) previously. So would I have to repeat that and then would that delay the transplant further?
Thanks in advance for any advice.
    Liz
