  • I am so sorry that you have had this awful news. I hope this helps. I was diagnosed in 2005 at the age of 50 – then considered quite young for this awful disease. I had my first transplant in February of this year after a year of quite difficult times. Anyway, despite fearing the very worst, and having a fairly worrying and slow recovery time…[Read more]

  • Hello everyone,

    I'm Christin's mum.

To say the least this has been some roller coaster ride so far. The side effects of the steroids are not very pleasant but we can manage..just need to stay calm! Its the pain that David is in is very concerning and hard to watch someone you love being so uncomfortable! We are having an appointment on…[Read more]

Thanks to everybody for your good wishes. Well, It does seem to be a slower pace than the first SCT but it is moving forward, if slowly. Stephen's appetite has returned with a renewed vigour and he makes DEMANDS (cheeky so and so!) OOOHH I realy fancy shepherds pie/sausage casserole/ spag bol. He is having a bit of a problem swallowing so his food…[Read more]

  • My heart goes out to you Angelina for all that you are going through. My husband (Stephen) is the mm person in our life.

We had a very lazy morning laying in bed until about 8 am and chatting. I told Stephen about your posting and we came to the same thought.

A memory book is a wonderful idea. I did one for my mother in law when Stephen's…[Read more]

I was not sure what heading to post this under, but knew that people would pick it up if they wanted too.

Stephen came home today after his second transplant. He was in for 17 days and, although that was 2 days shorter than last time, he found it all much harder.

He is in agony with his back pain (crushed vertebrae sp?)his legs won't work…[Read more]

  • I am so sorry to read your post regarding your wife's death. We all take our blood for granted as a nothing and then, when we get into the world of blood problems, we start to realise just what can go wrong.

I do hope you are starting to come to terms with your loss and wish you well

  • Gill replied to the topic Pain Relief Changeover in the forum Treatment 13 years, 10 months ago

I wish I had an answer Bridget. Stephen always seems to self medicate (ie takes more than he is prescribed) but it never takes the pain in his back away completely

I do hope that they find a cocktail of drugs to help.

    Hello.
I´m new to this so hope I don´t make a mess of things. I am 56 and was diagnosed with myeloma in 2005. I started chemo (cyclophosphomide, dexamethasone and revlimid) last July and had a stem cell transplant with melphalan in February of this year. It has been a very difficult time of course but am in remission now. Only problem is t…[Read more]

OK I must have something very wrong here. Stephen has been having Velcade through his PICC line and has had very bad (and I mean bad) diarrhoea. His Specialist asked for a sample but was very surprised and thought it was nothing to do with the velcade. Gill (or confused from Orpington)
