It is such a hard time of year for all of us who have lost a loved one. I know that I am still trying to come to terms with the fact that my darling Stephen (died suddenly September 2012 aged 57) will never come back to me.
One of the things that Stephen left me I class as a pain in the? Rear end is polite 2 naughtie little West Highland…[Read more]

Dear Helen
Don't ever feel "mean" posting good news. My Darling Stephen died in September. He was one of the unlucky ones.
It is great to hear of people doing well, and makes the possibility of seeing this horrid illness kicked into touch for everybody seem a little closer.
Good luck and good health Love from Gill xx

No magic wand from here I am afraid. What did help Stephen a little was keeping extremities extremely warm (excuse silly choice of words)
Feet soed in warm water, loose bedsocks etc.
I wish you both well Gill xx

Thanks for your thoughts Jean.
David I forgot that the site has moderators. I know that when I first joined I read that we are pretty much left to monitor ourselves and people generally only use "indoor language" with an occasional asterisk thown in.
But I was fuming when I saw this advert this morning

Are the adverts being posted on so many of the topics being monitored? If not how do we report abuse

Hi Sue
The first thing Stephen was told when he became ill was that pain management is the highest priority. Do get on to Michael's medical team and ask them to re-assess his pain control drugs.
It cannot change much for you or Michael but I am sure that you know everybody on here is routing for you both.

Do check with the doctor but Stephen used Corsodyl toothpaste and mouthwash during treatment (not good to use it on a long term basis but it really helps)
He managed to get through all treatment with not one ulcer or mouth problem.
Good luck from Gill xx

I do realise that this may not be for everyone that has lost a loved one, but I thought I would tell you of my experience.
We have a local Hospice Care facility (just 10 minutes away from me). They do not take inpatients but run day clubs, coffee bars, quiet lounges, a library, cafeteria etc.
They have a small medical team led by by highly…[Read more]

All I can do is wish you tremendous luck with whatever you decide. As Nettie said this is such an individual illness, and with that comes very individual decisions

Hi Eve
As you may have read I am feeling better now after starting treatment and meeting my Macmillan nurse – as our pals say on here "onwards and upwards" but I am sure I wouldn't have felt as relaxed and positive as this withoutall the support received from the kind friends on here.
love and a big thank you hug.
keep well love Carol…

I'm feeling much more positive now we have got started with things. Also I have met my Macmillan nurse for first time and feel as if I can ring someone with queries without bothering doctors with little things.

Hi Liz
Thanks for that – it realy does help to know that people understand as,it's not always easy to be 100% honest with family and close friends.
Treatment going well so that's a big relief although I don't knoe if it's working yet!
