  • Hi Jenny

I am pleased that your dad feels a little better. I do agree that a care package would help a great deal when your dad goes home but I can understand how fearful your step-mum is.

When Stephen was due to come home after his SCT I wanted to beg the hospital to keep him in. I was terrified that he might get an infection or I would…[Read more]

Roz I know that Michael was confused towards the end…[Read more]

Just when Stephen had stopped taking Dex and was becoming himself again. He has bought another puppy!!

Yes we were always going to have another dog and Yes as Stephen will be receiving treatment for around the next 6 months we cannot go to France which means the new little pup will be rabies inoculated etc and allowed to travel when we next…[Read more]

So pleased that all is going well. Gill xx

PS to Sharon as a 60 year old that has had her hair faintly high lighted for the last umpteen years I dread to think what colour it would grow into!!!!

  • Hi Ron
It is my husband with mm he has not had a transfusion as yet but has been throught to CDT route (this is his second lot) I am sure many others will give you more info than I can. Good luck Gill

  • I am so sorry that you have a difficult time with this doctor. Heavens you have enough to go through without that as well.

I hope you find a way to approach this particular person (they are only people underneath their training) and explain that he is a bumptious, unpleasant human being that should take a few inter-personal skill…[Read more]

Stephen has started the New Year Dex free YIPEE. I know that Dex is a necessary evil but how I hate them. He was on them all over Christmas, plus the poor devil was on RT until the day before Christmas Eve. We had his 83 year old, quite deaf mum staying with us frequently saying (quite loudly) "why does he keep having a go at you" And Stephen…[Read more]

  • DearRoz

I am so sorry to hear about Michael. Please accept my apologies for not being in touch sooner but we have had problems with the internet and have been off line for a while.

I do hope you manage to get through all the things you have to. Thank goodness you have family to help.

    Love from Gill xx

  • Hi David

The first time we went away after Stephen's diagnosis we went with MIA. No problem at all but then we discovered that we were already covered for health insurance on an insurance policy we already held as long as we let them know that we are going and that Stephen is not currently on treatment (RT Chemo etc) they don't include…[Read more]

Welcome back Bridget. The silence has been deafening:-)

I am sorry that you have been poorly and that you have had bad news what a heartbreaking bummer. Stephen is in the middle of further RT for his spine and his pain has eased a little after his first zap so we are hoping the other 3 Zaps will help even more I do hope the same for you

Thank you so much Debs for your offer to let me know who to write to I will be in touch. As for hate mail how could anybody be nasty to someone so pleasant and, obviously by your photo, so pretty.

Good idea Min I am in the middle of filling out an online form to Watchdog.

    Hi David

I am glad you are OK you maybe feeling like S**t but you will be amazed at how it starts to turn around. I really wish that I had kept a diary when Stephen went through all this first time round. Just a sentance every day would have been a good indicator of improvement.

I cannot help over whether you should have a booster. I suppose…[Read more]

  • Hi Sharon
Fingers crossed that it is a blip as David puts it. We were told recently by Stephen's specialist that allos are being used more and more here in England (following the USA I think)as the drugs for GVHD are so much better now

I hope that there is someone on here that has experience of an allo and can give you some information

    Oh Donna

There is so little I can say, I am so sorry.

    My daughter is called Donna.

I don't know if you are aware that the name Donna means lady.

I just bet that you were one very special lady in your dad's life.

Wishing you strength and comfort in the weeks to come
