    Hi Paul

    Thanks for you reply, we have basically been told that dad has to have a mini SCT this is do with his age being over 60 he wouldn't be able to have the full sct. All we know is that he will go in for 2 weeks of chemo followed by 2 – 4 weeks for transplant.

    Did you go onto the register then? if so how long was it before they found you a match?

    Apparently it will be slightly more difficult for dad to find a match because he is half burmese and english why are things never straight forward!

    Hi everyone!

    Thank you for your replies, looks like dad won't have to go to the royal marsden and it will be carried out at our local hospital in Plymouth. Heard quite good reports about this hospital so fingers crossed.

    Our next biggest hurdle is trying to find a match for dad he has now been put on the Anthony Nolan register and my understanding that it has to be a tissue match unlike blood. As dad is hard Burmese apparently it is going to be slightly more difficult so we are just keeping our fingers crossed that there is someone out there.
