Evening Izzie, it takes me a while to get going in the morning, I usually have to stretch etc it is a bit of an effort getting downstairs. Usually sit for a while, have several large cups tea, sometimes take two paracetamol, but then take the dog out for an hour or two across country!

Evening, I too came out in a severe rash with allupurinol, I was taken off it immediately and not given a substitute, mind you I didn’t have any kidney problems. However thinking back at each check up they did look at kidney function, so presumably if there was a problem I would have been given an alternative.

Hi, don’t wish to insult anyone but would hazard a guess the gentleman was late 60’s early 70. The young lady would be mid 70,s, hope I am not insulting anyone. Both spoke about the airbase and how it was guarded by armed guards! The gent talked about the pet food factory. I also noted that Radon is present in the ground around Melton, but then…[Read more]

  • Just read the BBC pages, I think ibrutinib is a drug designed to fight leukaemia evidently will be in use in Wales by end of the year. Don’t know what the implications are for myeloma.

Just to add to this thread, I attended a day clinic today for a penidronate infusion at the Leicester Royal Infirmary. As one does I got talking to other patients, there were two folk who have lived all of their lives in Melton Mowbray and both have myeloma. Neither have spoken to anyone and were unaware of the high myeloma incidence in…[Read more]

  • Hi Richard, thanks for your reply. Another couple of tips in your reply about attitude and there being no point in feeling guilty. Your are right, but easier said than done sometimes eh?

Also rereading your earlier post, I must also make a point of remaining anonymous.

  • Hi LoisLobann and all. I have not been on for a while so I have only just noticed this. I totally identify with Alpenator’s words about realising this is it, never going to get the old me back. And of feeling guilty, I too feel very very guilty I have inflicted this on my husband, and daughters, they do not deserve it. I am also on a lot of…[Read more]

    Hi Vicki
The collapsed vertebrae was written in my discharge notes. When I reread the notes the doc was comparing my new X-ray to one taken in 2011! So I don’t think that was new or the cause of my pain. It was more likely a side effect of my radiotherapy. Oh welcome back 😉 glad you had a good holiday.

    Hi all
Just a little update on my exploits during the past couple of weeks.
A week gone Wednesday I had an appointment with my radiologist re back pain. Turned up on time went in and had the consult – she identified two areas that could benefit from a blast of radiation. T1 and T10 I think was the verdict and I agreed to go ahead. Good she said…[Read more]

    Hi Helen.
We’re staying in Bowness. It’s a bit blowy here at the moment and it’s due to rain heavily in the next couple of hours! It’s supposed to be dry tomorrow just in time for our journey home.
Grooms woman? that’s a new one. Hope you have a good day. Didn’t they consult you when they arranged the wedding date lol.

    Every day is a gift.

Hi everyone from a windy Lake District. Rain forecast for tomorrow!
Last night Steph and I had the pleasure of meeting and having a drink with Maureen (bandityoga) and her husband Ian. It was really nice to meet them and we had a good old natter. They’re a lovely couple.

    Just thought I’d share.

    Hi Eve.
Not had any feed back yet about Pomalidomide. I suppose my next pp test will give an indication.
I feel ok but the proof will be in the blood tests.

    Hi Maureen.
I’m just packing all my drugs for the trip to the lakes tomorrow. We won’t get there till just after lunch tomorrow. So I suppose a drink tomorrow night is possible if that’s ok…[Read more]

    Hiya Jeff and Richard.
Jeff what you have found is so interesting, there must be a link of some description, especially as Dick was in the same place at the same time.
    Well worth pursuing that one!
    Good bit of research ther.

    Good evening me hearties.

Eve – I have Slims problems with reading. It’s a nightmare. If I put a book down for a couple of days I have to go back over what I’ve read to recall what it is I’m reading! TV series are the same – so I record them now and watch them one after another over a couple of days instead of weekly.
Oh I’m sorry it looks like…[Read more]

    Hi everybody.
I was just going to cut and paste my original Whoops thread but thought that would be cheating and after all it is a Dex night so I’ve got plenty of time.
A week gone Friday went to the day unit for my usual blood test – 20 mins max in and out WRONG! I mentioned my back and said I was a bit warm out came the thermometer 38.1
