Hi Everyone
I have already bought mine could not tell you if they are eco friendly ,Mine will be set of on a sea shore, and don,t worry already thought of coast guard,I use to work for them years ago as a voluntary coastguard,
Christmas night seems ideal, to remember people we have loved and lost, and raise a glass, and be grateful that we have had the privilege to love and know them. Love Eve
Hi Jean
Just seen and read your post, sorry Franks going through a bad time.
I wonder how the doctor can say a crushed vertebrae is nothing to do with Myeloma,a lot of people including Slim started with a crushed or cracked vertebrae!!!!!!!
Hope he has some strong pain relieve to get him through Christmas and Wedding,it,s a bit of a bummer for you,as you were on a high having all the family coming together.Silly to say try not to worry, the quicker he has the scan the better, least you will know were you stand. Love eve
Hi Craig and Etta
Glad to see you have got home,as Tom said enjoy that bed, wish Slim had one,he sleeps in his chair more than his bed, says his legs feel far more comfortable in chair.:-)
Just being home is going to lift Etta, nothing worst than hospitals to make you feel depressed, looking back Slim had a phase of anxiety,it will pass:-)
If you have been so well, then this happens it does knock the stuffing out of you,it,s not a 2 week illness ,chronic is the word I use,but things do get easier,it,s just very hard to be positive when you are feeling so ill.
Put Christmas top of the list, and enjoy it as much as you can, love Eve
I think that person explained it so well, some one once told me never refuse an invite or opportunity, keep opening the doors in front of you, your past will always follow you through the door.
I have a friend who,s husband is planning his funeral,I have known him for 30 years,he knows he has not got a lot of time, and I have found out,so much in one day about him, than thirty years of knowing him.I found this amazing what we show to the world and what we feel.
Eve
Hi Mari
How is Steve getting on with the Velcade!!!!!!!
Hi Tom
It is the tooth Tom,lol
If he had his way,it would be straight forward job,see dentist, don,t bother with injection, tooth out.lol:-0
I am the coward in the family:-(
When we listed the drugs and complications like his lungs, for the dentist,It surprised me how much there was to be written down,I could not equate it to Slim because he is looking so well,he has got a nice sun tan,but again that is the drugs,We do joke that he,s the drug addict in the family,:-P
Tom now 2 years for you, will the Zometa and blood test stop.????
love Eve
Hi Gary
Forgot to mention, have you looked in related conditions, there is a few younger people on there who have gone through the same thing as your sister,
Eve
Hi Craig
This is were you have to be strong, when Slim was in ITU,he was saying and seeing all sought of things, does not remember anything,In fact a lot of his short term memory has gone, but that,s not important,he is still here, and although not his old self,I am grateful.
Low blood pressure is my first marker with Slim, even before other symptoms show,I keep reader at home and check at least once a week and more when he is a little bit off.
it is hard to keep positive when you are feeling rotten,I suppose the nursing staff have heard it all before, start planning little treats even if its just going to a favourite place.I took Slim and wheelchair out all the time, don,t get me wrong but some times you have to be firm, when they cannot see any way forward,I think Slim called it me bulling him.
Ettie has a long way to go,she will get there.love Eve
Hi All
Well if there is a link Slims must be from his Slavakien side, and we have no history there.
I do not know if I am bitter, but Slims mum died last year age 84,she was not a very nice person,so it does seem a little unfair, but that sums up life sometimes.
I know we worry about our partners David, managing, worrying about what the future holds, but that,s for the future some things you cannot do anything about,so why worry.People who go through life changing events and come out of them amazingly strong people.
So just enjoy yourselves for what ever time is left, one year or twenty,at least with this threat hanging over us,we appreciate each other a lot more, We went to France today just for a day trip by train,as per usual Slim did far to much,so will take awhile to recover, makes me angry but I do appreciate,he tried his best to give us a day away from Myeloma,Eve
Hi Terry
Yes they are the same thing,I use that reference,as to me it is a biopsy because it looks at cells in the bone marrow, and it is the one test they can confirm myeloma and the only way of telling what is going on inside the bones.
I agree failure is not an option,it,s important to be positive.Eve
Hi David
I think everyone judges there own life span on there parents,Slim and I were talking about it today,I said after the initial shock of being told you have Cancer, you become more acceptant,Slim answer was,he was the one with Cancer not me,and he never looked at it as a shock, his father was a soldier who died in the 2WW age 28,and Slim was a Commando Marine for 24 years,so his attitude was I have got away with it for 65 years. So it is how a person see,s there life,
Lets hope with all the research ,they will find some answers, too late for some of our cyber friends,Love Eve
Hi Gary
Welcome to the site,as a carer i and others, have been standing, just were your standing and feeling the same as you,no matter what we say you are going to worry, but welcome to the roller coaster.Do not feel embarrassed, just feel glad you are not alone, and everyone on here knows how you feel.:-)
Please get your sister to join the under fifties, she will find people on there, who know how she feels, and are the same age group, some a lot younger, with kids and the same social problems that come with Myeloma.
The treatment she is having ( chemo) will be effective on the Plasmatoma and lesions may I suggest you look in to old post on here or send a e mail to Ellen who can send you info to read up on,once you learn more about it,you will be able to support your sister, prepare yourself for a big learning curve. The more you have understanding of Cancer the more help you can be to your sister.
This time last year my husband was a very sick man, today we are going over to France to do some Christmas shopping,a year makes a big difference.Eve
Hi Terry
Come on just to tell you what BMB is,it,s Bone Marrow Biopsy.
Slim has to have them as other results do not show true readings and the only way to tell if Chemo is effective is by BMB,and general health.
Slims on a three week cycle of Velcade 2 weeks on one week off a combination of VCD on different days, just finished 6 cycle waiting on BMB results. Eve
Hi Min
I read that article too.
I think it has long been accepted that we all hold the ingredients within our bodies that can be cancer related, how it multiplies to full blown cancer related illness is not known, otherwise we would have an answer to Cancer.
I would like to see more research relating to the individual person, considering how many different examples of myeloma there are and how different treatments effect different patients, yet they are all treated exactly with the same format,a bit hit and miss!!!!!
No consideration has been taken except age,to the treatment that is available, this is no choice and as in Slims case he wasted 5 months on treatment, that not only did not work, but increased the myeloma!!!!! .
If you read that article, you will see it says about the advancement of living longer, the % looks good, but I read it as only 17% have a chance of 10 years.May be interpretation is wrong!!!!
They know there are different types of Myeloma and some are harder to control,so why are all myeloma,s being treated exactly the same??? Eve
Well done Debs
were did you find the energy!!I want some.I agree you should take it a bit easier, you must have worked very hard.have a good Christmas Deb.Eve
