I am 56, have a wonderfully supportive husband, Dave, who is now also my carer, 2 children, 3 step-children, 1 step-granddaughter, 4 granddogs and a huge supportive family and circle of friends. I was told by my haematologist, Dr Chantry, that he was looking at a diagnosis of myeloma on 10th July this year at an appt I attended on my own – in hindsight I wish I’d taken someone with me. This sadly was 2 days before my youngest daughters wedding. Following a bone marrow biopsy the diagnosis was confirmed on the 14th August 2014 and I started CDT on Trial X1 a few days later. I’m currently on my 4th round of 3 week cycle tablet form home based chemo and am feeling good and positive most days as I believe that will get us through. If treatment goes to plan my first stem cell transplant should be Feb/Mar 2015.
