    Dear Gill

I am so sorry to read your post. You both have been in my thoughts and prayers. Stephen is having a terrible time and it must be so difficult for to watch him in so much pain. I hope that the Wizards magic kicks in soon and Stephen gets relieved of his pain soon. I am not good with words Gill, but please know that you both are in my thoughts. Your lunches sound good. I hope that you have many more. We are off to see consultant.
    Take care of yoursel Gill

    Hi Ali

We are just coming to the end of the third month and don't get me wrong it is tough but as others say (I hope) it will be worth it. Frank takes the Chemo tablets every Monday. He was told to take the in the morning but they made him feel anxious and 'funny' for about 18 hours. So on Monday week ago he decided to take them late on Monday night so he could sleep through the worst of it. It seemed to work. This Monday he did the same and he felt so much better, we spent yesterday shopping together. That was a first for 3months. I did check that it was ok and they said with that drug he could take it when it suited him. We only have 3 months to go so fingers crossed. If only Dex withdrawal could be sorted, but as Michele says it will be 'worth toughening it out'

Regards to Kevin and look after yourself

    Hi Ali

Sorry you have had to join us but this is the best place for support, to rant and for friendship. My husband is just starting his 4th cycle of CDT and the withdrawal of the Dex is by far the worse. His consultant tried to wean him off it, but for Frank, it just prolonged the withdrawal, so back to cold turkey. His first month was the worse. He said it was like someone else had taken control of his body. I think maybe his body has got a little used to it, as now, although not pleasant, seems to handle it a bit better. He had hic coughs which nearly drove him crazy, but natural yoghurt seemed to help him.

I hope all goes well with your hubby (his name??). It take some time to get your head around this illness but as I say you are in the right place.

    Take care

    Hi Pete

Thanks for your post. I appreciate everything that you have said about Support Groups and I am looking forward to going in October. I suppose, as Frank was not on treatment, I was like the ostrich – head buried in the sand – but if I'm honest I was scared to go to a group, as I did not want to hear or see what the future held. I'm not very good at expressing what is going on in my head, but I hope you understand what I'm trying to say. I discussed this years ago with Frank and he was adamant that he did not want to go, and I went along with him. I'm in a place now that I need as much information about this disease as I can get.
    My best wishes to you

I agree Michele. My husband had SMM for 6 years and has just started treatment. I never felt inclined to go to a support group and Frank would not even talk about it, but now that treatment has started I feel the need to go. I will be going to my first one in Belfast in October.

As you say cope with Mm in your own way

    Hi Louise

We have used quite a few travel insurance companies in the past. We had to find a new one when Frank turned 65. The one we have used for our past holidays has been Columbus direct. 02082569045. We found them very helpful – but be prepared to answer lots of questions. We used them for a cruise in the Caribbean. Lots of people on the forum have used different companies so I'm sure you will get plenty to choose from. Hope you are successful.

    Hi Jill

Thanks for posting this I love reading positive posts like this. I'm glad your mum came through treatment with such good results. My hubby is on CDT and the Dex is as you say "hard work". My best wishes to your mum and long may it continue.
