Our son Robert and family are home from Southampton on 8 August so looking forward to seeing them especially Maddy our grand daughter.

    Hi Dai
We are new to the Dex. Frank is starting the 3rd cycle tomorrow. He is ok while taking the Dex (touch wood -has been first 2 cycles). His problems starts when he stops. First cycle he was off the planet for about 4 days. On the second cycle consultant suggested that he was weaned off it – that did not work as he was off the planet for much longer this time. So now he is back to cold turkey. He hasn't had any sweats. I hope things settle down for you and start to feel better.

    Hi Ian

Yes there has been discussions about curcumin on the forum maybe a year or so ago and I know some did and do take it and If I remember rightly there was a blogg I think it was called Margaret's blogg and if I remember she was a great advocate of it. Somone else with a better memory will be able to tell you more. If you do a search on curcumin in the search box you will see quite a few posts will come up.

    Take care

    Dear Etta

I am so very sorry for the passing of your sister. Life can deal us some terrible blows but this is a brilliant place to rant as much as you like. My sympathies are with you and your family. Please take care of yourself

I'm so sorry to hear that Steve is having a hard time stem cell collection. I'm still new to this treatment (frank hopes to have SCT after his cycles of CDT are over) and no nothing about plerixaforbut I will keep everything crossed for him for tomorrow and pray that all goes well. Enjoy your holiday.

    Hi Ronnie

My Husband smouldered for 6 years. He had pain in his ribs and complained for 18 months to consultant. Frank did tell her that it was muscular. She sent him for a skeletal and an MRI which showed up nothing. She was not concerned as his proteins were dropping. After nagging she sent him for CT scan which showed up 2 lesions on ribs. Saw radio therapist who said that she did not think treatment was necessary. Turned out that Franks myeloma had changed from secretory to non-secretory.

As you are in pain Ronnie I would advise you to insist that your consultant sends you for a CT scan. She told us that the CT scan gives a much clearere photo of what is going on.
    Hope it's sorted soon
    Take care Jean

    Hi Keith

Read your post abouth the Dex with interest. Frank started the first cycle of CDT last month. He was taking 20 x40 mg on the first day for 4 days. The withdrawal was not nice. He felt so peculiar. When we told consultant she decided this month to wean him off. He took 20,20, 20,20,5,4,3,2. Frank said that he is going to,tell her that he is going back to "cold turkey" as the first cycle he felt awful for about 3 days, this cycle he stopped them over a week ago and the old frank is just coming back,
Hope you get it sorted soon

    Hi Tina

Frank is on 2nd cycle Of CDT. He is worse on Mondays when he takes the Chemo and the Dex together. The Frank we know disappears and a short tempered Frank appears. I know what you mean About the burps he is plagued with them. We are now in the 12th day of 2nd cycle and we have a tired Frank back – with burps and all that it brings. His mood has improved greatly and he's back to his nearly old self. Things are getting better for him and hope they are getting better for you. Be well
