My Dad was diagnosed with Myeloma in April (66pp) was in kidney failure and had many compression fractures. Despite such a high count, he had recovered from double pneumonia before diagnosis with antibiotics (& without hospitalization!). His pps are now at 14 and there is a SCT planned in Jan. He has fairly severe nerve damage (MADSAM )and other complications from initial thalidomide treatment is currently taking revlimid which is less problematic, and is still in work everyday! In my opinion he is a walking miracle and the strongest man I know.
