Hi Dai
I can only comment about when Slim was on CTD,then VCD.
No outward effect at all, never even put on weight, but as you know taking large doses did disguise infection, and made him think he new best, insisting he was going home, when he was on his way to ITU!!!
Once I new how they effected him,I was able to relieve some of his side effects,by…[Read more]

Hi Dai
We are new to the Dex. Frank is starting the 3rd cycle tomorrow. He is ok while taking the Dex (touch wood -has been first 2 cycles). His problems starts when he stops. First cycle he was off the planet for about 4 days. On the second cycle consultant suggested that he was weaned off it – that did not work as he was off the planet for…[Read more]

Hi Mike
I remember that feeling of limbo very well. I think a lot of it was shock in my case and I used to feel sick with worry for a week before every appointment with my specialist – as things settle down though and we got to learn more and more about what was going on we got into the routine and things seems less chaotic.
Please donΒ΄t…[Read more]

Hi Pilgrim!
I'm also IgA, but not Bence Jones. Though I do take the FLC test now and then and my ratio is higher than normal but not by much. Have you had a bone marrow biopsy? I got too stressed about not knowing when I was first MGUS labelled and did the BMB which showed I was smouldering.

Hi Jane!
So you also experience variability in paraproteins. I don't get joined up appointments but my consultants are very aware of the other disease and the other consultant. My hospital has fast track for new RA cases – took 2-3 weeks I think, but I know they have this as a special thing.
