    Dear All,

    Thanks for all your postings.

I'm starting on XI on 15 June at Southampton General after my MRI scan and Bone Marrow data indicated that treatment was needed. It's taken 18 months to get to this point.

Just waiting to find out which pathway I will be starting on. Will try and post my experiences.

    A good weekend to all,

    John

I've been reading up on treatments and diagnosis over the break and it seems to me that there are multiple drug therapies that work with older people. See, for example, http://bloodjournal.hematologylibrary.org/content/117/11/3025.full.pdf

I find it frustrating that there seems to be little alternative to "watch and wait" – am I missing something

    Mavis,

Thanks for this thoughtful contribution. At the last test, my PP was 20. I've been taking iron tablets for most of the last year which is keeping anaemia at bay. Interestingly, the occurrence of anaemia was the first sign that something was amiss after my excellent GP sent me in for a whole range of blood tests.

Coming up for another test in 2 weeks, with next consultant's appointment in the second week of August.

    All the best,

    John

    David,

Thanks for this thread – is it possible to get SCT if one is still on the borderline (23/24)?

    Thanks David,

It's good to feel welcome! Having engaged in these communities professionally for over 10 years, it's an interesting experience to participate in a learning and supportive environment.

As people may have noticed, my original post was early in the morning. I've had a tendency for many years to wake in the small hours when my mind is at it's clearest. Being a "lark" is something that I've learned to value.

    Happy New Year to all,

    John
