Hi l am new to the group and it is my husband who was diagnosed with multiple myeloma in August, heck it’s been a nightmare ever since he went down hill rapid. He had his first 5 days of radiation in Preston on his head where he had a lesion on the base of his skull and his head , he originally started with just lower back spasms but very quickly this spread up his spine into his ribs he came home from work one day and just collapsed crying in pain . After a few miss diagnoses an x ray of his back revealed he had an old T8 break and a new L1 which he knew nothing about and had at no point been involved in any accident so they investigated further then the myeloma was found. He stared on chemotherapy right after his radio therapy and seems to have been quiet ill since ending up in hospital a couple of times but this last was frightening he nearly died , one day he had pneumonia the next c diff a week later sepsis l had to fight with doctors etc to keep him alive . He was put on complexed care as they said ICU wouldn’t take him as they would not resuscitate him if needed but they had a couple of more things to try then sneakily give us a dnar a week later on our return home which now l have had withdrawn , my husband did make it he was originally on DVTD but after his last episode in hospital they have dropped the Thalidomide 100mg and and given him Levofloxacin 50mg to be taken daily , l have read the information leaflet that came with this and read reviews online this is one bad medication to taking and risky in so many ways in my mind he already struggles to sit in a chair for long and only walk a few steps now as his legs are so weak and has no muscle mass, l am very worried about him as you can all imagine, please has anyone ever tried this or know anything about it.
