I wondered if anyone also suffers with osteoporosis. I have a break in my spine When this is painful it difficult to know whether I am progressing from smouldering myeloma to active myeloma, or the pain is from osteoporosis.

Thank you so much for your kind response .I also have a wedge in my spine and I think it is muscle pain I experience .Is you pain like a spasm ?
I am a Christian Quaker and I find my belief is really helping with my Myeloma /smouldering myeloma journey.
How wonderful that you can play golf again. My husband is an avid golfers. Love Nicky

Sometimes the pain is like a spasm, but mostly a dull ache when I walk – but it keeps improving.
I would recommend seeing an exercise physiologist and getting a tailored set of exercises/stretches to strengthen your core and help straighten your back.

I was diagnosed with smouldering myeloma 2 years ago, having broken my back following a fall. At this time I am having blood tests every three months. My blood had actually improved a little after my last fall. I was just wondering whether my back pain will ever totally go. Is it a constant symptom of this condition. God has blessed my treatment and my back pain has improved. My Haematologist contacted me and advised that a recent skeletal survey is showing that the vertebrae fractures have healed. This does not always happen with Myeloma fractures, but he said that my good period of remission following my stem cell transplant has allowed the bone…[Read more]
