    Hello again Mal/Bruce

This is Carole's first day of dialysis at an out patient location in Leicester. We don't know what to expect as we still have dialysis "L" plates. If you don't mind, I would like to keep firing questions as information from the renal team, so far, has been poor.

I am still trying to understand what dry weight means and, how is it calculated. Carole is still peeing and I wonder if this does allow more fluid intake. Her fistula arm is settling with no bruising. I think cramping in the feet and calves may be due to low fluid levels.

I hope we can learn more from the team at Leicester.

Hope you are doing well, kind regards

    Hello Mal / Bruce

My wife Carole is now out of hospital after spending 6 weeks there getting dialysis. She would have been out sooner, however there were no slots available at an out patient clinic. She now has a Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday as her dialysis days.

Can you shed any light on what causes leg cramps, I have read the pickle juice can help alleviate this pain. Also, that this may be common until her dialysis regime is tailored to her.

    Any help welcome

    Hello again Bruce / Mal

Thank you so much for the stream of answers to my questions. I show your replies to Carole in the hospital. Is the first month on dialysis at hospital the most stressful and tiring as the body is adjusting to a new method of cleaning out the body of waste and toxins. As her kidneys were only working at 18% do you think dialysis helps to increase this level of function and so increase energy levels and lower the tiredness laevel.

    Thanks

    Robert / Carole

    Hello "Chucky"

My wife has been receiving treatment for MM since 2007. now, her kidneys are not working and she is going onto dialysis. We would like to do this at home, saves all the travel 3 times a week. How long does it take to get approval to do this at home. I understand a new "compact" machine is available Nx Stage for home use. Can you give me your views regarding

    Regards

Robbie Orr dialysis and home use.
