Hi Tom,
I'm just back from a few days in Ballyjamesduff seeing family before my transplant session. I am hugely happy to hear you have gone through the black tunnel and have come out again into bright sunshine. As everyone has said, look after yourself carefully for another few weeks to make sure of full recovery. No point overdoing it now and slowing up the recovery.

Thank goodness for that. Well done Tom. Great to see you are nearly home.

Hi Tom,
I'm waiting anxiously for your next updates, hoping things are going well for you. My transplant has now been booked at Kings for 6 August. I'm seriously not looking forward to it, but will have more confidence if you come through OK.
Keep fighting.

Hello Tom
I'm really pleased for you that you have finally started the transplant process. I'm off to Kings tomorrow to see if they can harvest enough cells so I may be following you pretty soon. I hope you get thought the next bit OK.
Good luck
Scott
Hi Tom,
I've just seen what has happened to you and all I can say is HOLY MOSES!. Life is tough enough for us without that happening. Huge sympathy from me. At least you should still be OK for stem cells second time round. I have to start my GCSF injections next Saturday – two in the morning and two in the evening. For four days – I'll feel like a pin cushion. Then if it works (second time lucky?)I'll be hooked up to the machine the following Wed, Thur and Fri. I believe I have to be in the hospital from 0830 till 1700 each of those days. Seriously not looking forward to that.
Nil desperandum and keep fighting.

Hi Tom jnr.
That is the first hurdle over for you. Well done for that. Hopefully stage two will not be problematic. It seems I will be going for a second attempt at the SCT so just waiting for the dates. I'll be watching your progress with interest as I'm right behind you.
Keep fighting.

What a bummer. It would have been great to see you on there and you would probably have had a chance to say a few words on the dreaded MM. What are you going to try for next – how about The Chase?
Keep fighting.

Hi Tom,
I'm just back from sunny Spain and am catching up with the discussion forum. I hope you have better luck with the harvest than me. I had a failed harvest just before heading to Spain. Not enough stem cells in my blood. I think the count was 3 or 4 and it has to be about 10. I'm due to see the oncologist again this week to see what happens next. By the way, most of my hair has now fallen out so watch out for that.
Keep fighting.

Hi Maureen
We are in Vllamartin, near Torrevieja. Flew into Murcia airport yesterday to escape the English weather. Guess what – it's raining here today. Thank goodness the forecast is hot and sunny tomorrow. My wife is happy though. There is a new shopping centre here called La Zenia Boulevard so she is spending the afternoon there.
Adios
Scott
Many thanks Jo and Ozzy for support. Like Ozzy I'm not feeling too great after all the stuff injected into me. Me and Linda are off to Spain now for a couple of weeks that had been booked. I'll post what happens next. It may be that I won't have the stem cell transplant. Do you know, I'll have mixed feelings. I really wasn't looking forward to it especially as my kidneys are only working at 20% so higher risk. We'll just wait to see what happens next.
Keep fighting.

Hi Sarah
What a great forum this is. Its so helpful to see what happens to others in the same position. I was at Kings yesterday for my harvest. This followed chemo, 6 GCSK injections plus another one given to me on Wednesday. My reading was only 4 though and as you say it needs to be about 10. I'm also now on a break and will see what the thoughts of the oncology team are next month.
It was such a let down as I had mentally prepared myself for it. Maybe it will happen or maybe not. This whole disease is just so totally random.

One other point about the trials. I was told I wouldn't be eligible whatever the trial. This is because my kidneys are only working at 20% and the drug companies want the best results from the trials so don't use people like me. This limits my options in the future.
All the best
Scott
Hello Dai
Its great that you can try something else. Pity you can't have another SCT. Do they not think they can harvest enough cells now. I hope and pray that the new treatment works for you. I'm due to go to Kings tomorrow for my bloods plus some injection and all being well go back Thursday for the SCT harvest process. I guess thats the easy bit.
Keep fighting.

Hi Dai
I managed 8 sessions of Bendamustine before it hit my Neutrophils etc and that was that. As I posted the other day, my next step is to go for the tried and tested SCT. I'm due to have a chemo infusion tomorrow as step one towards the harvest. Good luck to you with whatever plan your consultants put together. There seems to be fairly limited options available to us. Lets hope for a few more asap.
Cheers
Scott
Many thanks all for the messages of support. My goodness I really hope the harvesting will be done in one day. But I guess if it takes another day or so then it has to be done. I was told it's not easy to read so maybe I will be able to look at my ipad instead.
Cheers
Scott
