    Hi Mavis

    It's a man thing I think,he will get there !!!

Look at Dai I automatically thought he had a wheelchair, only to find out he has not,and poor Janet pushing him .
Slim has a wheelchair I bought when he came out of hospital last time, but to heavy and awkward for me to lift,so I went to Halfords and got him a light weight one, not great on rough ground but doable. We live near the sea and the front is very flat no curbs to negotiate, just a battle against the wind!!!

If it makes life easier is my motto.

How was Belgium ,we use to spend time in Bruges ,love the canals and cobbled streets, cute names, plus of course there chocolates and a must is there lovely larger, did you fly or go by boat???.i go to the front every day to walk the dog most days I can see France,I do so miss not travelling as much, but cannot complain,!

Start planning your next trip Mavis.Love Eve

    Hi eve

Sorry I missed all your posts about slim and the clots. Your post does make me laugh too….you a strong woman versus a stubborn marine. Oh to be a fly on the way. I too live with a stubborn retired police officer, a real battle of wills! I too would be rich with all the bets!

Hope you and slim are doing ok now 🙂

    Hi Vicky and Pauline

Thank you for your support ,he is home and better already,he is far better in his own home.:-)

Vicky, although Slim has his stubborn side digs his heels in and refuses to budge,he is never visibly depressed, very seldom complains of pain,he has no patients ,but often after awhile,he does apologise ,the man he used to be,had a very dry sense of humour, worked hard and played hard. All those good and bad qualities have got him this far.:-/

It has got to the stage, were people outside plus some friends, are now avoiding us,this is common ,as people just do not know what to say,so that big:-) comes on,and you just say he,s fine. So I am very grateful for all of you,. It's summer I can start wearing sun glasses soon,so will not have to make eye contact8-)

Slim has now got an appointment this Friday for consultant ,next Friday for blood test and Monday for Zometa,so we should have some news then, plus he has a follow up appointment with the vascular clinic, the surgeon was eyeing his other leg up,if it was a leg of lamb.:-0 ,

Glad I make you laugh Vicky,Min use to make me laugh, she even shopped her husband Peter, rang the clinic and told them he was ill,he was like Slim, use to just say he was fine,it just amazes me,,Slim will do and say any thing if it gets him out of hospital, but this is a man who was never ill.

I will let you know how he gets on Love Eve

    Hi Eve and Slim,
I've not been on here for a while so missed that Slim been in hospital.
We would have seen you normally tomorrow but I have been ill with yet another chest infection and have been so tired and unwell that we made appointment to see Lavinia, she told me to stop taking all trials pills and made appointment to see Dr S. last Friday, He has agreed that the pills were making me ill and effecting my quality of life so has agreed I stop them, so I am now on no medication. due to this I had my appointment for tomorrow cancelled so we are now on different Fridays once again. My next appointment is now 16th August.
I do so hope Slim is better soon, it must be so worrying for you both.
I will not shun you if I bump into you on the sea front, next time we get over I will give you a ring to see you both for a cuppa or ice cream in Deal Beach Parlours.
    Take Care
    Love Babs xx

    Hi Babs

I know you have been having chest infections on the maintenance ,it is handy to have Laviinia,I like her a no nonsense woman, always contacted her if we had a problem, not scared to make a decision,
Slims no longer on trials,I believe they have appointed a haematology nurse named Jenny ,no Myeloma nurse!!!!!.

Slim was in Kent ward, very nice,so there are good wards as well as bad ones,.

I know you would not shun us,as treatments mount up,and Slim does not look to good at the moment, you can almost see people's thoughts, life just stopped at present, getting sun glasses out, that sun is blinding.took him down to Walmer castle to watch the world go by.Hired a scooter for the weekend, had a grumble but said he would take the dog for a walk!!!!!!

Did you enjoy NY,and when do you head off to Ozz??? Always had plans to do the figure of eight in motor home,Slim is an ex diver, but he wanted to do the barrier reef, one of the few he has not done. Go on girl get out there ,its a lovely world. Love Eve

    Hi Everyone

Well we see what happens today!!!

Slim came out of hospital on Tuesday, vascular. Ward, haematology rang with appointment for last Friday, the consultant did not know anything about Slims stay in hospital,no notes from vascular although ward is 25yds away. He relied on my version of the situation.
Wanted Slim to start second course of chemo,so eventually off we go me pushing Slim in a wheelchair to the other side of hospital,.
Bloods taken and general ops,the nurse was going through his massive file looking for the last ops,I told her there were none taken, did not believe me carried on,in the end attached ops to and old one months before.

So here we are Monday, will be interesting to see what it brings, they now have a specialised haematology nurse,is she there for the patients!!!! or to organise appointments !!!!,I asked for her card as she will be my point of contact, interestingly my consultant has never met her,but she has been there years, just new appointment!!!!!!!

Revilidimide 2 cycle, told to come in 3 to 3.30 think if we go in 3.30 we will only have to wait 2 1/2 hours as department plus pharmacy shut at 6.. Will get my note book ready will let you know what happens. Eve

    Hi Tom

It went OK today, few hiccups ,nurse was good at finding vein!! So that was a good start, second attempt, had a problem with air bubbles in line,so had to be discarded, then some realised he had not had treatment,so male nurse toddled off to pharmacy ,the whole thing was finished by 4.30 so it was a good visit.
They took all Slims chemo tablets off him in hospital, but also took some prescribed by GP,so another visit.

I suggested it might be a good ideas to have bloods taken mid cycle as platelets only 57,bound to drop,so they are happy for me to arrange bloods through GP,and ring to see if he need any.
Managed to arrange appointments all together,so things are looking good,I am glad to say,I just have to keep Slim well enough to complete cycle.
We will have to wait and see about his memory, see if it has been effected by the artery blockage see vascular consultant mid Augest 😛
BMB on the 13 August, will know if treatment is working by the end of August.

No point in worrying ,just taking things on a daily basis ,took him down to the front in the wheelchair,he all ways thinks he can do more than he actually can:-S
The scooter came in handy, said he did not want one as he will, get better. Love Eve

    Hi Eve

Glad that Slim seems to have turned the corner for the time being. Do hope clots haven't done any longtime damage AND that the treatment does some magic for Slim.

We are planning to go back to Luxembourg again in four weeks. My daughter is looking into their version of the Access Bus so hopefully we will get into the city this time. My daughter isn't confident enough to drive there yet although she manages well around the countryside.

Keep strong Eve. As you say, one day at a time.

    Love Mavis x
