    I Bridget,
I dont know how I missed this post ( Well I do I have been researching kitchen appiances, benches and workmen etc. So i have been buried in the computer with an occasional visit to outlets etc. I hope by now your legs have got a little better, but if they have not Peters specialist told him he could take up to 200 mg a day NOT ALL AT ONCE and not after noon time or you will be up all night.
The important thing sounds stupid I know but as well as peing for England you have to drink too. Bit of a misnoma but Peter always found that he got dreadful cramps if he just took the tablets and didnt keep drinking.
I hope it gets better soon. When he was at his worste I used to massage his legs too but if he didnt sit with his feet raised it was a waste of time as it all just went back to where it came from .
The local hospice rang today and he is going to start going for back massages for the pain in his back.next week.
Perhaps you have had your clinic appintment by now. How is it going. Are you still on the Revlamid? and dreaded Dex. A friend of mine who's husband was on velcade could not tolerate Dex but is doing really well and you wonder if it is absolutly necessary!
Well the deposit has now been paid on the kitchen and there is no going back so better get the rest ordered

    Hi Everybody
Jo that is a lovely part of Wales you went to,only problem to many scousers,LOLthey have all emigrated from Liverpool.surprised about the weather you must have just been lucky.:-P
Bridget you seem to be going through a bad time,I know when Slims legs were swollen the more time he spent on his feet, then rested them,it helped the swelling to go down.I would agree you have become an expert on yourself, you know what is best for you, qualifications mean they know the theory, not the patient.
Did they do a good job on your kitchen Bridget!!!:-
Min hope your kitchen goes to plan, working on wooden floor and doors next, plus sliding wardrobe, like to keep my self busy i wonder why!!!!
    Best wishes Eve

    Hello Eve
Well I took your advise and got the appiances myself and wooden worktops too, just getting the units and fitting from an expert…. I am almost an expert myself (not at fitting but know all I can know having spent far too many hours into the wee small hours doing research)
Thanks for the advise and hope Slim is doing well. You will be celebrating a wedding anniverary before you know it!

Hi Min and Eve well still got the legs of a bull elephant !! I do drink lots and try and be as active as possible and I am remembering to elevate my legs when I sit down too .My Macmillan nurse did say that Ferusamide wasnt that good as a diuretic as it causes kidney problems at higher doses , she also said if the problem continued they would admit me for iv diuretics which are a lot more effective , so for now Iwill stick with 20 or 40 mgs !! Last week I had a lovely foot massage at the hospice , although it didnt have much effect on my ankles it felt good anyway .I have got the dose of my pain relief just about right now and that really awful pain has stayed away too So all in all I feel as if I am back to as normal as I can be !!Min I bet you are enjoying planning for your kitchen and despite my whingeing about the dust and mess Iam so pleased with mine Mind you I am a bit obsessive about washing -up not being left for long now, and polishing anything shiny !!Wonder how long that will last!! I hope the back massages give Peter some relief Min , even a short respite from pain can help to make life bearable. Eve I am so jealous I love wooden floors and I am trying to talk Jeff into replacing my old wardrobe for something more modern and less fussy , mind you I do know he will do some lovely draings buy the ingredients and possibly do the first part but then it could be several years before its finished ,so perhaps I will give up on that one!! Well ladies its still summer so hers hoping we can enjoy it without too many hospital trips ! Nearly forgot to mention if you are on DLA then you are entitled to take someone to the cinema with you free of charge , hows that for a bonus !! lots of love Bridget x

Hee hee I got Peter the cinema thing with his DLA last week and its brill… Means I can buy extra popcorn as I havent paid to get in … BONUS but had to watch Harry Potter … not my cup of tea. But cant complain wanted to get him out to the blu** house as I was going up the wall. Oh forgot to say Bridget we used to put some books on the legs at the bottom of the bed to raise it made the water in his legs flow the other way … But had to use a V pillow to prevent it getting on his chest… Dont want to go there anymore. Lots of cream to stop the tight skin from going like thin tissue paper. I remember it well and he was so upset as he could not get his recliner to go down and often was trapped in the recliner when he needed the loo as he didnt have the strength in his legs to kick it down. Poor lamb. It was awful watching the frustration in his face when I had to help him. Male Pride took a big fall in those dark days. 2 years ago next month.
Its difficult to remember life before MM.

    Hi To You All
I am awake at this stupid hour,so I thought I would pop in,have been awake for awhile so gave in ,up made a cup of tea and here I am,wish i could get in to a good book, but my prolific reading days went out the window when mm started,Slims happy about that,as he could not get a word out of me when my head was stuck in a book:-0
Bridget can i recommend slidingrobes 0% interest,10 year warrant, having laminated floors look the real thing these days, and they do not scratch as wooden floors do.been meaning to do all this for years, never had the time,
:'-( I am itching to start painting, but i know Slim would not be able to just sit and watch me and you could knock him down with a feather right now.
Min sometimes i do not want to remember life before MM,mainly because it makes me feel so guilty, yes i want my life back, but it is not going to happen ,I admit it was not a normal life but it was stress free, living and travelling in a Motorhome for 8 years, unless you have done it,you would not understand. We both worked hard all our lives,so we sold up,and travelled, decided back then to spend the kids inheritances.no regrets.
This hammer blow of MM has smashed our lives to pieces,
Anyway time for another cup of tea,and to put the demons back in the box,cup of tea, then walk the dog. love Eve

    Hello Bridget

I am so glad you feel enough to post we have missed you have the new bad back pains gone from your back, swollen legs are terrible when I first had the renal failure my legs were like elephants to say the least my kidney consultant told me to drink at least 3 ltres of fluid not just water and try to walk as much as i could this seemed to help a lot he did not give me diuretics as these are bad for the kidneys

    Hi Joe,
My description of Peter when people ask is he's 'coming on' meaning he is definatly not as bad as he was, he is not at his best by any means but he is somewhere in the middle.
He is gaining weight, gaining strength, and gaining an appetite too. We are back at clininc next Tuesday when he will be told the day for his 2nd transplant.
My kitchen has me occupied, terrified(in case the man I chose to do it makes a mess of it) but excited like I havent been in a long time. It takes my mind of the worry of what happens next! knowing exactly what is going to happen but not looking forward to it. The kitchen will be done I hope when Peter is in Hospital so no germs for him from fitters or otherwise.
Last one we had Peter fitted as he is or was so handy with stuff like that.
The reality of today is he simply does not have the strength or back to do anything strenuous. So its a pain having to find someone who will do exactly what I want. Cant nag the fitter ! or can I ?
    Love MIn
