Damn sorry about that mess. Problem with posting from an iPhone . In short has anybody experienced a hoarse voice after dexamethasone? I’ve had it for two weeks now (last dex was 23rd June) and am beginning to worry that it might be an unrelated nasty in my larynx.

I’m on velcade, dex and thalidomide, two weeks on, one week off, and I have the same voice probs. This is my week off drugs and I am absolutely wiped out.
Reckon dex has a lot to answer for!

Hi, yes seems a permanent problem. Not really a hoarse voice more strained, still odd.
Had an appointment with consultant today, she feels that the voice problem is the Dex! discussed feeling wiped out, not the drugs, seems that I have an infection, so have 5 days of antibiotics.

    Hi,
Yes Dex does affect the voice , i have been on Dex for 5 years, and about 6 hours after i have taken them in my monthly cycle my voice becomes hoarse and husky, in my case it lasts for a few days, every month, i have not had any other problems with my throat / voicebox etc in that time.
Hope all go,es well for you .
    Mike.

Thanks Mike. Mine has been odd/hoarse for about 3 weeks now. Hopefully not permanent , but in any event less worrying that cancer of the larynx !

I get the same reaction after my dex days. It lasts a few days so not really a problem unless it happens on a  Thursday when I am a quizmaster without a mic at my local pub.

Turned out that it was caused by laryngeal reflux – probably Dex related. Combination of gaviscon and raising the head of the bed seems to be sorting it out.
