Has anyone been given any dietary advice in terms of preparing for SCT please? Are there any good / better foods (other than a usual healthy diet) I should be having more of? Also my platelet levels need to be boosted following a blood clot after my Hickman line was removed because of leaking.
I am going to Leicester for harvesting next Wednesday and have the worry / concern that enough stem cells won't be collected

Diet, if there were any special health foods that would help I think the "Docs" would have said. I certainly did not get any advice on it.

As for collecting the Stem Cells my first attempt was a dismal failure. I then had to wait about 6 months for a second go. I put my failure down to a mess up on the CSG(?) injections on the last night. Just make sure you do them right if you are self administering them.

I had dogs at the time. I was just about to inject myself when my Collie and Springer came bounding into the kitchen, distracted by the dogs I carried on with the injection but afterwards I just thought I did not have the same amount to inject. I think I accidentally squirted some out without realising it and therefore I only got a small dose. (I was mixing two injections into one to save on the holes in my belly – so you can see it would have made a difference). They test your blood before you do the harvest and you have to be over 13. It went down to 11 the second day but the third day it went to 5. The consultant doing the harvesting said he had never seen the like and he asked whether I had injected myself at all:-( . I was as sick as a parrot I can tell you. The second time I flew through it getting 1.5 mil out the first day.
