had last Velcade today,so BMB next blood test and Zometa all before Christmas, and one tooth to be removed along the way, sounds a lot but it,s less than we have been doing.
No marathons yet Dai,sleeping for England in the day awake all night, normality will be a bonus, what,s normal:-P I think I have forgotten. LOL

Will just be grateful for small mercies a better Christmas than last year.

    Hi Eve
I hope you have been informed about having teeth out whilst on Zometa / dont want to scare you but its best to check up as its bad for the jaw (or so am told)

And yep after what you have gone through the Little bits left are nothing you both will do it Easy Peasy (as my big brother says)

    Enjoy the week end

    Love and Hugs

    Hi Eve

Tom is right. Frank finished Zometa 4 years ago and had to have a tooth removed a couple of monyhs ago He had to go to the dental hospital at the Royal Voctoria and was given high dose of anti biotics and had to wait a couple of hours and then a Professor took the tooth out. He did have a problem – it kept bleeding. But did not take them long to get it under control. He was fine after that.

    Hope all goes well

    Love to you both

    Hi Eve
Please make sure you get a referral for that tooth out for slim. Regular dentists are not up to the job in as much as you need to go to a dental hospital or similar as Peter had the same problem and there is a very high risk of osteocronosis following tooth extractions when on all of the meds slim is on especialy the bone stuff?. Forgot its name already how bad is that? no just remembered zometa or pamindronate ? Better safe than sorry as the hole left by the extraction sometimes does not heal and continues to bleed.

    Hi Jean Tom and Min
Thank you for the advice about the tooth,Slim went to the dentist the other day,was called in and sent out to fill in forms on previous illnesses and medication.in that time 4 other patients went in as slim was filling in forms.LOL.
Went in needed tooth extracting, sent to hospital for xray ,these days they give you your own CD to take back to dentist, already decided she would not touch him with a barge pole, with his medication, mention Velcade even in a different hospital department, they will not touch you, because never heard of it and mixing medication.
I have been told by the staff giving chemo I know more of the side effects of Velcade than them,THANK YOU DAI.This is were this site becomes useful,it keeps you up to date on things like this.

Do not know how long he will have to wait for tooth extraction, think paper work has gone to consultant.
So wait and see love Eve

    Hi Eve

We got in touch with Franks consultant when he was having the tooth problem and she pushed the whole thing through for him. Hope Slim hears soon.

    Best to you

    Hi Eve,
I had a tooth extracted pre-SCT… it was carried out at Queen's Nottingham by a Surgeon/Dentist. The extraction was quite straightforward and I had to wait an hour for a post-op check and then was sent home with a course of preventative anti-biotics.

No further problems encountered but I was told that all future tooth work would be carried out as above… no complaints from me.:-)

    Hi Tom
    It is the tooth Tom,lol
If he had his way,it would be straight forward job,see dentist, don,t bother with injection, tooth out.lol:-0
I am the coward in the family:-(
When we listed the drugs and complications like his lungs, for the dentist,It surprised me how much there was to be written down,I could not equate it to Slim because he is looking so well,he has got a nice sun tan,but again that is the drugs,We do joke that he,s the drug addict in the family,:-P
Tom now 2 years for you, will the Zometa and blood test stop.????

    Hi Eve

Envy Slim his tan even if drug induced. I am looking decidedly pastey!!

Hope his tooth isn't too painful and that you get it sorted out soon. Just when you thought you could have a break from the medics!!

Lots of love to you both.

    Hi Eve

Am pleased it was the tooth 😎

I think we are all the same as Slim ie looking so well 🙂 the only time I looked like the man thats got Cancer was when I had my Transplant and lost all my hair (never grew back proper?? am sure i had hair on top??? he he) how many times have we been told "Wow your looking well" 😀

The Two year post transplant has come and gone Eve so am expecting this next Zometa to be my last one but am sure I will still have bloods taken but not as often 🙂
Will keep you all informed 🙂

Love Tom "Onwards and Upwards" xxx
