    Hi Mari,

You are right in saying that there are people in worse positions than you and Steve but that has nothing to do with your immediate world when you are faced with the possibility of bad news and the agony of waiting for the consultations that confirm or deny your worst fears.

We know exactly where you are and we know exactly how you feel after going through the same process this last winter/spring. After only 10 months of an expected 3/4 years my light chains started moving up… slowly at first (over 2 monthly consults) and then a significant jump for the 3rd. My consultant was ready to dismiss the first reading but got suspicious at the second and warned us of the possibility of relapse. That last month was… well, what you are feeling now.

I wouldn't give up hope just yet though, not unless or until your consultant gives that warning… keep your hope and your dignity intact until the temporary bad news is delivered… but I hope that that is way into the future and that waves of relief are the only emotions you have to face in the immediate future.

We are all different, with different stories and different outcomes… to treatments and traumas, with failures and false alarms as part of the package.

I wish you and Steve every good fortune.

    Dai.

    Hi Mari

Trust me girl you are and never will be a "Burden" on here or anywhere else 😀

And I am pleased that the pp;s for Steve were looking glum? but hey we all have little blips and need to get them tweaked 😎

    Love and Hugs ((()))

    Hi Mari
So sorry that you have had such an awful shock. I had a similar one a few years ago and then it went down again after a couple of months. At the time I personally put it down to the shock at the loss of my son in law in a road traffic accident (aged only 32 and Daddy to a little boy aged 5)but who knows with MM? – not sure even the specialists do all the time yet.
I can only wish you both the very best and hope that things settle down soon.

    Love Carol xxxx

    Hi Mari
How are things going for Steve and yourself ,its all a bit of wait and see,not a nice position to be in,but it just might be a blip
Hope Steve is keeping fit on the bike, long rides might take his mind off things. As Deb say,s retail therapy is a good thing shops are full of lovely things, might be worth your while to take your mind off things short term.Eve

    HI Eve, and everyone else,

Thank you for your kind words, We are both feeling a bit calmer now. Steve has another appt on 30th Nov when we will see what has happened to the PP levels, we are still hoping its a blip.He does not have any symptoms at the moment, which is a good sign. We will take what comes tho and just keep going, great example from so many of you on here. We are off to Bournemouth next week, half term, to see our daughter who is training as a nurse down there, so looking forward to some nice beach walks and lunches. We dont mind if its cold and bright, we dont even mind if its rainy, we will just wrap up warm and shout at the wind and the sea. My mind has been somewhat distracted by a very dear friend, who has supported us hugely while Steve was ill. She just had a recall from a routine mammogram, where they found something suspicious. Its our turn to support her and her partner now. It feels good to be able to return the favour, even though I would prefer to do it in some different circumstances.
I hope you are able to enjoy this lovely weather we are having, but as I type I realise it might be a north/south divide thing and some of you are being a bit less fortunate, whatever you get keep well and happy,

    Love Mari xxxx

I haven't been on here for ages coz my pc has been playing up – to all who might remember me hello and how are you all doing ? I had to reply to this post – I also had my SCT in Spetember last year and my para protein has started to go up again (last reading was 5) but both UCH (where I had it done) and my local hospital are not bothered about the increase. My next follow up is in December . I'm not on any treatment at the moment – only taking usual stuff for side effects from previous treatments. By the way has anyone tried Manuka Honey ? I'm having a tablespoon a day and swear by it! Anyway stay positive and try not to worry (easier said than done !)

    Love to you all

Hi Gilly, glad to hear you are doing ok. I am slightly behind you with my SCT in Dec last and my PPs are still low at 2.1.

What are supposed to be the beneficial effects of Manuka Honey then? I should say I am not really into alternative medicines etc… but I am always willing to listen 😀

    kindest regards – vsabyte

Manuka Honey is supposed to be good for your immune system only trouble is the best ones are a bit expensive – about £10 a jar. Mind you Ive now got yet another chest infection so maybe its not much good after all !!!

    Hi Gilly

I also swear by Manuka honey. My hubby has MM and I give it to him and I also take it. I did a bit of research on it and from what I gathered it is supposed to be a natural anti biotic. It is expensive – there are different strengths – the higher the strength, the higher the price!!

Hi Mari hope things have been sorted now ,on the bright side my Doc said I shouldn't take too much notice of the PPs as other symptons which they would pick up first would be more important, my PPs went up when I had a bad time with tummy trouble.I go next week and I must remember to ask what mine are ,Take care, Ted
