Hi Chris
Happy new year
Thanks for your advice , I will make sure I overdose on ice !
I had a good briefing with my consultant Dr Mike Dennis at the Christie just before Christmas
I hope I am not stuck in the toilet with all the gear jangling around me ,but if it happens , it happens
I take your point on other posts re travelling fo Christie for both me , Wife & visitors
On a good day we are an hour away , in rush hour it had taken me over two hours
My Wife will spend part of the time with son '& family who live in Halebarns & can chauffeur her around for part of the time, which will be a great help
Trying to get fitter over Christmas is not easy , but drugs & wife's food have fattened me up, so I can easily afford to loose 15 kg
I'm looking forward to taking on board some 3.5 mill cells, which I hope will knock me into remission for a very long time
All the best
Peter
Hi Peter,
Just to wish you good look with SCT,not very nice at the time, but if you achieve extra time it,s well worth it.
A few tips for you, take your own mug in,as hospital vessels not big enough, take old clothiers that can be dumped,I can assure you if you do have any accident s your wife will not want to take your clothes home, physo should visit worth getting one of those little bike machines and doing bait of excise as weight loss is muscle ,you should be allowed out of your room until you hit zero, take full advantage, because once everything hits,it's finding the energy just to stay awake .
Apiece of advice a nurse gave Slim,no point of eating if it makes you sick, cold milk was the order of the day, also I would limit visitors ,you will find even nurses keep away unless they have to do a job.it keeps germs at bay.Eve
Hi Peter,
The one thing Phil has used the most since he has been in hospital for his transplant is a radio. Phil finds it hard to concentrate enough to read or watch something but the radio is a nice distraction in the background that you don't have to focus on too much unless you want to. It also make the room feel less lonely when you are by yourself.
Good luck with the transplant.
Megan
Dear Peter,
I'm so glad that the induction therapy worked and that you are ready for your SCT. I wish you the very best of luck and hope that you get through as smoothly as possible. I'm sure your positive attitude will help a quick recovery.
You may remember that you gave some advice for my dad (Garry from Hull) who was diagnosed in early October with Myeloma and was just about to start CDT. After 4 cycles and limited side effects his pp levels are now undetectable and he is now waiting for the SCT process to begin. We are so pleased with how well he is doing and he has been so brave, largely to do with reading all the contributions members make to this discussion forum. The only blip was when he contracted shingles which is quite painful but he is receiving treatment for that and is coping well.
Thanks again for your support and I shall be thinking of you when you go into hospital on the 17th.
Very best wishes,
Louise
P.S. I live in Hale, about 5 minutes away from Halebarns
Hi Peter
Just dropped in to wish you a smooth hassle free transplant. Look forward to reading your progress. Frank is waiting for the phone call.
All the very best

Hi Louise
It's a small world, I lived in hale, local schools etc , until I married, then went to sale, soon returned to park rd hale , then to the mount in altrincham, before moving to the Ribble valley twenty years ago.
Son & family still live in Halebarns
Your dad seems to have done really well, I got my pp down from 42 to 3 , what was your dads at the start of treatment ?
Like your dad I had few if any side effects from the CDT , ditto stem cell collection, particularly when you read posts of lots of others who really suffer, my specialist says this is a good omen, I hope !
All the best of luck to your dad
Peter
Hi Tom
Apart from a slight cold over Christmas I am fitter than the butchers dog , not that his beast has MM
Wife has fattened me up over Christmas ready for any weight loss
Really determined to get back on alchohol , so it will be worth the diesel to get that pint off you !
Specialist thinks I am a tough old git , although with my poor hearing , he might have said old git only
after my older bride than yours celebrates her memorable birthday on the 16 th, in I go on the 17th as I have nothing else better to do
Luckily like you , I am one of the worlds greatest optimists, never stressed or depressed !
All the best
Peter
Hi Peter,
It really is a small world. We moved to Hale in 2001 but we are both from Hull.
The doctor said that dad's results are an excellent response to the treatment. He started out with pp's at 47 and last week his pp's were undetectable after only 4 cycles of CDT. We are just waiting to get an appointment with Leeds for stem cell collection, the rest will be done at the new Queen's Centre for Oncology and Haematology in Hull. Currently dad is enjoying a rest from the treatment with antibiotics and antivirals for the shingles.
All the best for the 17th. Will that be Christies?
Best,
Louise

Hi Vicki
So good to see everything going well for Colin at the moment.
Is he on any maintenance program yet?
We went to EJU last Weds Geoff is now down to a PP 2.5 and undetected in the light chains and he is just starting cycle 7 of RDC. I hope not too many more cycles all the emotions that goes with it 🙁
regards
Jacquie
Hi jacqui,
I see that you said Sean Macpherson is leaving, well that's a surprise. New Zealand eh! Certainly a long way from Gloucester! Glad geoffs pps have got down to 2.5, who knows a couple more cycles and he could be zero!. Colin went to see the sct nurse today. Bloods all ok, he is due for a bone marrow assessment on 24th January to see what's going on in there, hopefully nothing :-). He hasn't been randomised yet, but I guess that will be the next thing to come up. Fingers crossed and hoping for complete remission! Good luck with yours

Maybe see you at EJU sometime!
Hi Vicki & Colin..
Hope you both had a good Xmas and New Years.
Glad to see Colin is recovering nicely post SCT but don't let him do too much. Obviously I don't speak from experience but from what I've read 😉
We really hope this year will be great for you both and you get to enjoy yourselves. Holidays, parties let the good times roll 😀
Right is time for me to try and get some sleep!
Take care.
All the best Andy & Steph xx
Hi to one & all out there
Came into the Christie yesterday , set upon straight away , Hickman , line installed & drugs into me in quick order
Late pm had my dose of killer chemo , but body did not take kindly to this , so late at night everthing went tits up
Super nigh nurse stuffed me full of drugs which by today did the trick, although I have lost my appitite
So today had the cels returned & gave strict instructions to get a move on !
Thanks Chris for your advice re ic lollies , sucked my way through the transplant
The nurses still remember you , is that good or bad ?
Now presume I will soon defend into a little black hole for a few days
Everthing to play for
Peter
