    Hi
Slim was admitted to hospital yesterday.
Looks if he has an infection starting, sat from 2.30pm,waiting ages for blood results, which they still have not shown me,did not start antibiotics until
    6pm.

Found out that he is under Kings for 100 days, they have an agreement with Canterbury to do bloods and give infusions.Everything else is through A&E.
A nurse walked into his cubical blowing her nose, and did not even wash her hands,I told her that my husband is Neutrepenic so please keep away, she told me she was a nurse and new her job.At this she picked up his notes and off we went to the ward.Am I p—-d off YES
I know I made the right call,if i can get himout tomorrow we will be on a 3 hr journey to Kings

    Hi Eve and Slim

Yes its a bugger these infections, I have lost count of how many I have had.
As for the nurse even my grandchildren know the rule Blow Wipe and wash 🙂 and she should know better.

Good Luck and hope the biotics kick in sooner than later

Love and Hugs to you both

Hello Eve/Slim, That nurse needs reporting, she may know her job but she fails to do it properly.
I know my Hospital and staff are first class(although I don't praise them too often…don't want them to get too complacent) and when I read things like this it makes me think how fortunate I am here on Teesside.
This disease is bad enough without being treat without any respect and you are right to be annoyed.
Unfortunately infections are abundant with MM as Tom says so you've just got to battle on through it.

Best wishes to you both and I hope it gets sorted and Slim starts to feel better soon.

    Keith.

    Hello Tom and Keith
Well he is nearly out.collecting him at 10 pm.Turns out borderline,so pumped with antibiotics lots of fluid, now having bloods and platelets,Appointments have been made for Mondays and Wednesdays for the next 100 days to check bloods.

He must be getting better because he is grumpy left him watching football,
So lets hope I can put some weight on him, before he fades away.
It is amazing how quickly the blood counts can go down.At least he was in a wonderful ward.so that helped me.
Tom one good thing about SCT Slim has not had to shave at all. LOL,I do not think Slim is keen on my sense of humour at the moment.Love Eve

    Hi Eve and Slim
Am pleased it was caught fast enough the sooner the better 😀 and am afraid to tell you you will have more of these down the line 🙁 but if you are all on top of it as soon as it "Feels just not right" then am sure it wont last long, jump on the bugger as soon as 😎 and tell Slim its our sense of humour that helps us cope I think 😎 and as for the shaving I hope Slim has an electric one??
Keep strong and bug free in your house.

Thanks for the thoughts and good wishes Eve. Quite understandable about you not having time to post. You have such a long journey to the hospital. We are fortunate as the hospital is not far away so if we have to wait for medication or long wait we just go Home and then go back again.

First week over. Thought Frank had handled it quite well as he seemed in great form. We went out for dinner tonight ( first time out in weeks) and he said that he is going to ask for medication to be adjusted as he feels like aliens has taken over his body and he's light headed. Going to consultant next Thursday. So see what she says. Have a safe journey home and hope Slim is soon feeling better.

    Love Jean x

Ps Eve Bridget in hospital she has shingle is her eye. She says she looks like a battered woman. xx

Its called barrier nursing .Eve. and you must insist on it.gloves plastic pinny and mask. And if that had been adhered to in Peters case he might just be here today. So don't let them get away with it.
That's my drum banged . Only do it when I'm riled up.
Which I wasn't because had a briliant few days
I'm now going onwards and upwards to quote a phrase from a mutual 'friend'

    Just a quick reply

Min i think if you are not in a hospital that is dedicated to Myeloma your chances go down,as i said he is on a good ward fit for purpose, but when he was in A&E they were going to put him on a general ward,I told them side ward or private otherwise i take him home, someone got chucked out to provide bed.
The fact is the hospitals are over whelmed, lack of staff with some who are not dedicated,I trust no one.Lots of politics

Slim did not come home they misjudged by hours how long 3 units of blood,1 unit platelets plus, antibiotics would take and for some reason they do not give bloods after 10pm:-P,(says to me lack of staff on acute ward},

Any way drama should be over tomorrow,I:-) will have my grumpy old man back, have decided to get a swear box, going to save a lot of moneyEve.

    Hello eve,

Sorry to read about the stupidity of the nurse who should have not been working in her condition in the first place!
It makes me rage when as a carer you do everything to keep germs away and there's posters everywhere you turn,
But it just takes one to undo all the good work!

Hope you soon get your grumpy man home soonwhere he's probably better off!
I know that's where my grumpy man likes being,

Love to you both liz& kev xx P.S. sorry if I've sounded off I was mad for a moment there!

    Hi Jo And Liz

Well my grumpy old man rang me at 8am yesterday to tell me he had been discharged so off I went to collect him,but when i got there, the doctor had made a mistake on paper work,so he had to be re discharged again by 11 he was loosing the plot,so all for a mistake in the paper work,Slim discharged himself, they were desperate for his bed any way,I confirmed I would be a good carer and take him for bloods on Monday8-)

I still think there is something not right as all his blood works are off the charts, but they have pumped him full of fluid, bloods, platelets and antibiotics We are just enjoying not being shut in a room and enjoying the sunshine.Love Eve

No they did not chuck him out,i think they have done all they can for him, because of this 100 day rule we are officially under Kings which is 86 miles away, they will keep looking at his bloods to see how he responds!!!!

I bought factor 50!!!! wish he looked white, but he does not.
thanks again for your thoughts it made me smile.Love Eve
