    hi

just want some ifo if anyone can help. My mum has mylenoma diagnosed 1 year ago. She did not take the news well and everytime we see the consultant she says she is fine, she has been, but recently she told me that she has funny feelings in her feet as if she is walking on sponges, she also seems to be getting itching on her body. Has anyone else suffered these symptoms?

I dont know if I should mention it to her oncology nurse before her next appointment in July as she would not let me tell her consultant if I am with her !!!

Her only treatment is sodium clodronate for her bones

    thank you

    Hi Lexi
I've not experience of this but someone else might, I'd be temped to phone the specialist nurse and ask her what she thinks and explain to her that mum won't tell the doctors

Sponge feet sound like Peripheral Neuropathy, which is what I have, and if so you should definitely tell the Consultant.

The worst thing you can do is ignore Myeloma so you must also inform the Consultant that that is what your mother is trying to do. I know exactly where your Mother is coming from my Mother in Law was made of the same stuff, a great old girl who I loved dearly.

Helen?s advice is right, speak to our resident Myeloma UK Nurse she will help you. Be strong.

    Kindest regards ? vasbyte

    Hi
Thank you for that. I will have a word with the nurse before she goes for her next appointment.
I think pretending its not there is her way of coping.
She had only seen a doctor twice in the last thirty years, before this was discovered so you can imagine its come as a great shock cant accept she is 86 and things do start to go wrong !!!
    thanks again
    best wishes Lexi
