    Hello everyone,

My name is Mandy and a very good friend of mine has been diagnosed with MM just a couple of days ago. She has been very unwell for some time and in some ways the diagnosis has been a relief. She is being very positive but is now totally dismayed that she can't manage to swallow even her first dose of Thalidamide capsule. Does anyone have any ideas what can be done for her. she is terrified that her treatment is being thwarted by her being simply unable to swallow the capsules. The hospital is not coming up with many suggestions. Any advice/info would be greatly appreciated by her and her family.

    Hello Mandy
I have just asked my daughter who has had 30 years of swallowing capsules
for epilepsy. She suggested emptying the capsule onto a teaspoonful of honey and swallowing that.
I do think you should seek professional advice to check of this is OK with Thalidomide, perhaps Ellen on the Myeloma Infoline could advise you.
    Kind regards Ann

Hi Mandy. Your poor friend. Firstly to find out she has Myeloma and then having difficulty in swallowing the medication which is ment to help her. I think Anne's suggestion of contacting Ellen on the Myeloma infoline is a way forward. Your friend's problem must have come up before. Wishing you both all the best. Kay x

    Hi Mandy
Tell your friend to put them in a carton of yogurt or similar desert. she wont feel them going down.
