    Hi All,

My name is Gill and I am 59, well I am for the next 2 weeks anyway. After 17 years with MGUS I have just been diagnosed with myeloma, I just can't believe it. There seems to be an awful lot to take in, I suppose I am lucky as I have been screened regularly it was picked up fairly eary. My only symptoms are tiredness and back ache. I have an appointment tomorrow for my skeletal survey and an appointment with the doctor to arrange treatment I am going on the Myeloma X1 trial. I am hoping that I can celebrate my 60th birthday before treatment starts.

    Hi Gill

First dont listen to Eve "re the drink" as its done me the world of good over the last 40 years lol.

But seriously a warm welcome to the site but sorry you had to join.
I was Diagnosed in Jan 2009 and had CDT then Stem cell harvest leading to a Stem cell transplant in december 2009, and am still in remission and doing good:-D still cant do what I used to do before I had MM but have learnt to slow down a bit, and at the moment just get weary more often but thats my bloods :-S
Good Luck on the trail am sure it will ruin smooth 😎

And now as for the demon drink?? I think Eve might be correct as I have gotton myself in some states what with the Vodka/wine and cucumbers:-P so take if want to and leave it if you dont, please dont say "Tom says its Ok" ha ha.

Keep us posted and I wish you a speedy Remission8-)
    Have a great Birthday

Hi Gill welcome to our merry band of slightly crazy but wonderful people ( cucumbers are a good example!!tee-hee) Actually I thought I replied to your post yesterday , either I was dreaming or the gremlins have pinched it It is very confusing when you first start on treatment but it will soon settle down as you get to understand all the new words Its great they caught you early and you havent got too many symptoms , tiredness is something we all have to a certain degree , I can cat-nap for England !! When is your birthday? I am sure you will have a good one treatment or not My only advice on your starting your myeloma journey is take things a day at a time , today might be rubbish but tomorrow could be great Best wishes Bridget x

Thank you all for your replies, I will have to try the cucumbers Tom!!! Unfortunately I went to the hospital for my skeletal survey this morning hoping to be back at work at lunchtime. I didn't make it home till this evening after having Zometa and a chat with the doctor who said he wants me to start treatment tomorrow si I am back again in the morning. He said it wasn't wise to wait so I am now on the trial on CDT1 or will be in the morning. It has been a rollercoaster of a couple of weeks.

Oh Bridget, there was another new Gill who posted and you replied to her. It must get very confusing with all us Gills about.

    Thank you once again
