    Hi

Please can anyone tell me how long recovery from SCT is after release from hospital.

I have been home 8 days and am feeling a bit stronger but I am suffering badly with lightheadedness it just doesn’t seem to be going away.

I spoke to my consultant who didn’t really have an answer for it. My blood pressure is low for me but is still in range. All my bloods are ok.

Am on blood thinners but as far as I’m aware this isn’t a side effect.

Any help would be appreciated as it beginning to get me down.

    Thank you

    Hi jennya

It’s good that you are over the major hurdle of transplant, and it’s still early days for you. I had a face to face consultation on day 37 and remember feeling distinctly better than I had been for the first 10 days after discharge, then feeling better still by day 60, and pretty much able to resume normal life by day 90 or 100- if my experience is anything to go but it’s unlikely that you would feel anywhere near normal 8 days after discharge.
I had felt dizzy and lightheaded prior to and during induction. This did continue to some extent for a while after transplant, but gradually diminished and was not a problem by day 100 (except very occasionally).
My blood pressure was historically low, and still is, I’m hoping that’ll help avoid some of the health issues associated with high blood pressure?
I hope that your lightheadedness improves over the next weeks.

Hi I feel you need to give yourself more time and be patient. You have been through a very hard on your body experience.

it took me 6 months to get better and get my taste buds working again, not feeling tired and pain to subside. I still feel I was not completely normal until a year later.

Give you body time to recover.

I have had 2 SCT’s one in 2013 and one this year in January. The 2nd one went better and I have recovered sooner but it has not been until recently I feel fully fit with my body working fine again. I still feel quite tired at times in the day and need to lay down for a rest.

    Regards David
