Thought I'd post this for all PN sufferers.
I read it on the health page of the "Daily Mail" on 16th Oct.
It states that Qutenza which is a chemical derived from Chilli paste and is given as a patch on the skin has been used successfully to treat the pain caused by Neuropathy.
It has a high capsaicin content which stimulates the nerves and thereby gives pain relief for up to 3 months per patch.
Each patch must be applied in the outpatients dept of a Hospital as special training is needed, and it's available on the NHS.
I know lots of us are dogged by this problem including Debs who by her posts sounds pretty bad.
I've not heard of this one before but I'd say it's well worth checking out.

I have very mild PN no pain just a bit of "sponge feet" as I call it. But I will bear that in mind, when and if I go onto the next stage's treatment 😀 .

    Thanks

Thanks for thinking of me Keith…..funnily someone else I know forwarded on this article to me.
I'm not sure I'm bad enough at the moment (fingers crossed) and I'm not sure how they'd do it for me anyway, as my pain is in the whole of my lower legs and my feet. However, they had said that patches/ creams were around if the drugs didn't work.
I'm on nortriptylene (or however it is spelt!) at the moment and that is helping a bit (although it made me really ill when I upped the dose of it!)
Anyway, the more things like this they come up with the better in my books!
    Thanks Keith

At the moment I am only getting Gabapentin… I have reported all the new pain and the worsening of my PN throughout my Velcade treatment (on the monitoring/report sheets for that purpose) but I have never been offered anything. I know that I should/could be on some treatment so i will ask at my next consult. These patches sound good. 🙂

Gosh I wonder if Qutenza and Coenzyme Q 10 have anything in common. I know that Q 10 has helped Stephen (mm husband) a great deal

If there is something better then please everyone post all that they know
