Hi, I'm Joe Slater, 20 years of age and a student.

Sadly, my dad (Arthur Slater – 52) lost his battle with Myeloma almost a year ago, now, and if I'm being honest the pain still hasn't healed.
I'm still at University (second year) and doing well.
I'm making it my goal in the next few years to put Myeloma on the map.
I've done a few marathons for Myeloma up to now, and a few more to come this year! However, I've decided to take on a new challenge, as in, ultra-marathons, in memory of my dad with the strength and will he gave me!

I'll be running 31 miles (50k) in September in another one for Myeloma, and shortly after will be completing another marathon.

Then I'm planning on completing a 50 mile (80km) ultra marathon in October,my biggest challenge yet, which will be booked in the coming weeks. All in the aid of Myeloma and another charity close to me, MIND (mental health). I'm sure my dad will push me to the finish if he has to!

I want people to understand Myeloma and I need to make people more aware of it, so we can defeat it!

I'm in a battle against time, and I'm going to do my best.

    Regards

    Joe Slater

    Hi Joe

It's very good of you to come on and let us know what you are doing. I remember you dads journey and its hard to believe that nearly a year has gone by.

From me thank you so much for what you are doing. Myeloma has to be put on the map and what you are doing will contribute greatly to that. I'm sure your dad will be with you all of the way.

Don't forget to post your just giving page (if you have one) and my very best wishes for your terrific endeavours and also for the rest of your degree

    Take care
    Love Jean x

    Thankyou for your kind words

I give all of you my regards and hope you're all doing okay!

It's not just my dad I'm running for, I'm running for all those people who would love to be able to do what I do, but can't, and running for those who suffer everyday.

I'm very lucky to be able to do what I do.
I wish you all my very best 🙂

    Thanks

    Joe

Good luck joe and thank you for your efforts. Mm needs to be on the map so that it can be reclassified into a critical illness not a terminal one. Sadly not in time for your dad but you are a hero to carry on doing what you are.

    🙂
