    Hi Ian
No……. But only been on it for 4 months as induction chemo and the last 5 months as maintenance. How long have you been on it and what neuropathy do you get?

    Hi Ian

Swollen ankles, sounds like water retention ,Slims ankles became very swollen on Velcade, had to buy socks with loose fitting at the top.only just managed to fit into his boots,I use to massage his feet and legs which gave him some relieve.
He did not have PN until he finished Velcade,he only has it sometime,s I think it is just a matter of finding out, what is lacking in his body when he has PN,at the moment going through the usual plenty of water, glasses of milk, swelling has gone, but feet tender and always cold. Eve

    Hi Ian,

I first encountered PN with my frontline treatment CDT.. the 'T' being Thalidomide.. but it only really became a problem when I was on Velcade… where as well as galloping PN I also developed a DVT complete with legs like an elephant and badly swollen ankles. I am now on Revlimid (2nd Cycle) and I am wary but my consultant told me that Revlimid does not usually cause DVT/PN problems and so far, so good.

As Eve says, swollen ankles are usually a sign of water retention and there are tablets you can take to resolve the issue. As for PN, it depends how bad it is… mine is there 24/7 but not as bad as under Velcade. I am on Clexane (40mg) as a maintenance for my DVT.

    Dai.

    Hi Ian,
Eva here. Also have swollen ankles though not very severely. I've been on Thal for about ten months and it probably has cumulative toxicity. Also have very mild pn.I'm on a small dose of diuretic. I think walking is good and having one's feet up from time to time. Sitting still at the computer with feet down is not supposed to be helpful.
    Best of luck,
    Eva

Hi Ian swollen ankles does sound like water retention , worth getting it checked out. I always get swollen ankles and calves when on Dex or Prednisalone . Ferusamide tablets are used to get rid of excess water and you should put your feet up as high as possible when sitting, doesnt mean you get to bew fed peeled grapes though!! Keep drinking lots of water as well it helps and a foot and calf massage is good too. Good luck let us know how you get on. How are you feeling apart from the pn ? love Bridget x

Thanks for all the replies,Hi Bridget it seems the swollen ankles were due to being prescribed naproxen by my GP when my specialist heard I was on Naproxen (anti inflamatory drug) he made me stop taking it straight away and my ankles have returned to normal.I'm on codiene now due to firstly falling a sleep in the transport car and having a very achy neck which then went to pain under my arm pits have had x rays and scans but nothing found,it's been 6 weeks now and the paranoia sets in but specialist isnt concerned just thinks it's muscle and nerve problems but has giving me a MRI to relieve my concerns.besides that Bridget I'm doing very well 10 months post allo and still in CR long may it last.

Hi Ian glad your ankle problem wss sorted out quickly and simply It sounds as if you have a really good doctor which makes such a difference When I have had unexplained pain, such as you have under your arm, my doctor always offers an mri to reassure me which I think shows they see us a whole person not just a set of symptoms . Heres to your CR lasting a very long time and so good to hear you are feeling well , it makes going through all the treatment worthwhile Take care and have fun love Bridget x

    Hi Ian

I have had swollen ankles while on my first dose of CDT. Partly, because I haven't been moving much. I have found if I work my feet, while sitting down, they aren't as bad. The consultant says nothing to worry about and don't need water pills at the moment. Must say, they are very unsightly though!

Hope things go well with you.

    Best wishes.

    Mavis
