Following the discovery of my two fractures (one in my shoulder, the other in my scapula) I had a consultation on Wednesday with a visiting Orthopaedic Surgeon from our neighbouring Queen's Medical Centre in Nottingham. He examined the results of my recent full body bone survey and talked through the options with Janet and myself.

He showed us the problematic areas and areas of damage that might develop into 'possible and probable' areas of concern. My left femur being the biggest problem and the one most likely needing immediate treatment. But… after a very honest appraisal and examination of options we decided on no action at this time. He agreed to radiotherapy treatment for the scapula fracture (apparently pinning wouldn't be of much use but the radiotherapy would) and he left me with an open line to further examination or consultation at my discretion… or if there were any new developments. 😎

The main reason for this decision was based on my lack of problems with the main areas of concern. I have never felt even the slightest twinge in my left femur (just above the knee) where my weakest point is supposed to be and I have not had any problems (a slight twinge prior to starting Rev & Dex) in my right arm.. where he pointed out another small fracture. :-0

The consultant showed me several areas where pinning might help but while Rev & Dex are still bringing my light chains down and my lack of mobility or pain problems in those areas, we have decided to leave well alone. He was the most helpful, open, honest and accommodating medic I have ever met and it was refreshing to hear that unless or until a problem emerged we would hold off further treatment. 🙂

So its carry on carrying the bone damage and letting Rev & Dex & Me fight the existing MM with a shot of radiotherapy to cool down the scapula. 😎

    Happy Chappy. 🙂
