The spam is quite bad on this forum. I received an email via the forum about a hospital in Hong-Kong asking me if I wanted to purchase a CAR-T in their hospital. A lot of spam on here is disturbing.

    Hi Sammy65,

I would agree to disagree with you on CAR-T: I would describe it as personalised immunotherapy.

I agree with you that CAR-T has the big advantage of being ‘once and done’ with implications for everything from the side effects being shorter term to easier logistics (fewer hospital trips).

I have been looking at papers from the latest ASCO (cancer conference) in Chicago. Phase 1 results of in vivo CAR-T treatment KLN-1010 are looking promising: 18 patients all MRD negative (no myeloma cells detected although – before readers of this get too excited – some are probably lurking) so far and side effects have not been too bad.

Hi Rabbit, please see below a useful meta-analysis study comparing CAR-T and bispecific antibody targeted therapies. It yields a conclusion that due to its mechanism of action, CAR-T has shown superior treatment outcomes in comparison to bispecific medications. The study explains about their advantages too, one of them bispecifics being an effective alternative for people who cannot tolerate CAR-T.

Hi Peter, I am just posting in support of the SCT.It is still , as far as I am aware, the gold standard for first line treatment although that may be gradually changing. I have a very resistant illness – I had a SCT in 2024 which actually led to my ending up with stable disease rather than going into remission. I have been on another treatment since then with good response ( KRD ) . I think most people I have spoken to in support groups etc have had a good response to STC and have gone into remission . The experience of SCT for me was fine really – it’s quite a long prep and process but I got over it all pretty quickly with no major problems ( there is luck involved I am sure ! ). If you go into remission you are then only taking maintenance treatment following the SCT and can get on with life. I was told initially that foreign travel is not recommended until 12 weeks post SCT but my consultant then told me that he would have been happy for me to go a family wedding in Spain at 11 weeks . It was too late to organise but it shows that life does not stop after SCT . I would follow the medical advice as to what is going to treat your illness most effectively .Good luck.
