  • My husband had a letter from the DWP today to say that his DLA is being stopped as he currently doesn’t score a high enough mark on their points system for PIP. Along with losing DLA, he also has to send back his Blue Badge.

FYI: My husband was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma (blood cancer) in August 2012* and was given a life expectancy of…[Read more]

  • Thank you Sharon for all your tips. I will definitely take them all on board. Sending lots of (((HUGS))) for your chemo journey and hope that you get your energies back soon.

As I have so much stuff, and a first minor step, I will be supplying/selling some items at the Myeloma UK Charity Bazaar being held this Sunday (28th) between 1-4 at…[Read more]

  • Hello All

After attending the (inspiring) Infoday in Birmingham yesterday, I woke up this morning with the idea that I would like to do a car boot event to raise the awareness and funding for Myeloma UK.

My house is FULL of good quality and useful clothing (some with tags still on), shoes (some never worn), electrical equipment (still…[Read more]

  • Good morning

Is anyone on the Myeloma XI Trial ?

My husband Bob (58) is on the 9th week (3rd cycle) of this trial and I'd like to touch base with other patients and carers to compare notes and share experiences.

He's being treated at Good Hope Hospital, near Birmingham, and I understand this trial is also running at Heartlands.

    It…[Read more]

My husband, Bob (58) was diagnosed with MM 8 weeks ago and although we're both coping with the disease and the Myeloma XI Trial treatment, I'd like to meet up with people in a similar situation and have face to face chats.

I currently feel very isolated as a…[Read more]

Thanks all for the great welcome.

Just an update on Bobs' progress.

Bob starts his 3rd 28-day cycle of medication today.

He's in good spirits and very little pain as he's on full dose morphine, oral morphine solution and paracetamol.

The Myeloma XI trial is going well and the 4-weekly Zometa infusions are working (although they…[Read more]

Just to say a BIG hello to everyone on this forum.

My husband (58) was recently diagnosed with MM Stage II and after scanning through some of the discussions, I find it to be a very welcoming and positive place.

When I get more than 5 minutes to spare, I'll take a more thoughtful look through the discussions and see what tips I can pick…[Read more]

    Hello,

My husband was confirmed as having Stage II Multiple Myeloma on the 21st August (after initial tests began on the 13th August) and started the above trial on the 26th August.

He is 58 years old and has been off work for more than 16 weeks now with what we initially thought was a bad back.

Is anyone else on the same trail as I would…[Read more]
