    Hi Guys,

Thanks for the birthday wishes. Helen, you were right – we took my cake round to Mums and we all stuffed our faces with her watching on!

Just a quick update on Mum. She is slowly but surely improving. Shes eating a little better, her mouth is not so dry, still taking her anti sickness – but not so many as before, tummy troubles are not so bad, still got an acid burning, but gaviscon chewable tablets seem to help a little. They came for a ride into Derbyshire to meet up with us over the weekend and it was lovely to see her out, although she was exhausted afterwards and yesterday she and Dad went for a walk around a lake near home and although her legs felt like jelly she was glad to have done it. I notice the silly things, like when I phone up she has now got her "normal voice" on and not the "poorly voice" – last week she was pretty down so its lovely to see her more positive.
Hospital this afternoon, hopefully she will get a date fot taking the Hickman line out, it cant come out soon enough for Mum. Shes also going to check on what she can and cant do ie mixing with others as shes feeling abit isolated.

Right thats enough of me babbling on…

    Hi Vicki and Colin

Just back from a few soggy and muddy days away in Derbyshire, was nice to get away for a while.

I do hope that Colin is feeling a little better after his chemotherapy, and he starts gcsf again today? dont be too worried if he experiences pain in his "long bones" my Mum did and hospital told her its a good pain, as in, no pain no gain. Its all the lovely cells spilling out into the blood.

You gave me a giggle about your painting skills! My Mum told be once to never be good at painting and decorating as it would always then be my job, so I once did a very pathetic attemp and Mum was right, every time I now reach for a brush I get asked to make a cup of tea! Ta da – thats the way to do it! 🙂

Anyway, take it easy over the next few days and take care both of you.

    Hi Craig and Etta

Was wondering how things are going. Having just gone through this with my Mum I agree with the others. My Mum couldnt tolerate 1 sort of anti sickness so they offered a different one (it seems they have a menu of stuff to try!).

Try and look after yourself too Craig, as it kind of takes its toll on the person watching. Worrying, to and fro from the hospital and the phonecalls in the evening you have to make to well wishes when all you want to do is relax and take stock of the situation.

Sending a big hug to you both

    Hi Vicki and Colin

Tom, Friday is 24th – I know this as its my birthday 😀

Theres always a plan! My Mum had the priming at the same time they fitted the hickman line before her harvest and remember how well it all worked for her? All done and dusted in the one sitting. I hope its the same for Colin.

I think it seems very real when you have the dates down in black and white. Friday seems so soon now, yet you have waited a long time. 2nd time lucky for you im sure.

Great news on the kidney function test:-)

    Bring it on now!!

    Hi Vicki and Colin

    Thanks for checking in!

I was thinking about Colins appointment tomorrow. Plan B will be a good one im sure! I have said all along we are very fortunate that there is a plan b,c,d etc.

If they can give Mum something for the acid burning in her stomach tomorrow at her appointment in clinic she will feel much better. Shes really trying to eat, but says she doesnt really fancy anything. My hubby saw her tonight for the 1st time since going into hospital and he says he was suprised at how well she looks.

Please keep me informed re tomorrow…..

    Hi Helen

Apart from the trip back to hospital on Friday night – Mums got another thrombosis. She had to stop her clexane injections as her platelets were low, and it suddenly appeared on her leg. She phoned the bleep doctor who told her to go to the receiving unit. All sorted, she has to take a lower dosage as shes lost a little bit of weight. It does make me laugh though, shes just come from the sterile environment of the transplant ward, back home, warned about being in places with lots of people etc and then shoved in a general ward!. Anyway she talked herself out of there!.

Yep, shes very tired. Just has to go to bed in the afternoon. Today shes done a few little jobs eg emptying the dishwasher and making some lunch for her and Dad. Its nice thet she is. She says she would feel an awful lot better if she didnt have the acid like feeling in her stomach, its making her vomit – is that a side effect you encountered Helen? If so could you suggest a remedy? She goes back to clinic tomorrow, so im hoping all is well.

Im fine! Thanks for asking. Feel alot better now shes home. We have even booked a few days away next week. Ive been feeling a bit guilty as its the school hols and have not really done anything with the kids. We are not going too far from home and am hoping Mum and Dad will feel up to a little ride out to see us(we have a touring caravan so its a home from home).

Did you celebrate your anniversary Helen? I hope you did, you desereve it!

Thanks for checking in on me:-)

    Love Ali x
