John isn't doing too well today. He just told me on the phone that he feels like sleeping all the time. I told him to get the flu jab, but obviously it is too late to catch this one.

He said he didn't expect this flu to be worse for him than for anybody else. He doesn't know much about MM, which in one way is good because it doesn't occupy his thoughts and prevent him for worrying too much.

But now I am in doubt, should I tell him to contact his doctor regarding the flu? Or will it just make him worry unnecessarily?
I am worried because I just read about one MM patient who died from flu, but that guy has surely been much weaker than John and he was in a hospital where also 2 otherwise healthy persons died from the same flu, so it was probably the worst flu ever.
    What to do?

Thanks for your reply. John isn't my bf, but a very dear friend – like a second father for me (he is much older), so I don't think I should mother too much 😀
However I am the one who helps him to find information on the internet since he isn't that kind of guy. And you have all been fantastic helping me with that task! I will talk to him tomorrow and see how it is. I could immagine it might just be some discomfort because he has been working too hard – at least I hope so!

Hmm, I was too late – it seems that John has got the flu now. Hope it won't be too difficult 🙁

I understand you! I was also disappointed when I heard that John's PP is 2.4, but as far as I have understood it can still be a complete response when there is no evidence of the disease in the bone marrow.
Yes, it can continue go down the next 6 months.
    Best,

    Hi David,
    Thanks for the great news!
May I ask why a PP of 2.2 is a downer? I thought it was good as long as it is below 5.
    Take care!

    Hi Bridget,
John had radiotherapy too – it wasn't bad at all.
    Wish you all the best!

Thanks for the reply! May I ask if you catch a cold despite the spray is it then more tough and more difficult to get rid of?

Thanks so much for your replies Roz and Mari!
I am glad to hear it isn't only John's GP who is suspicious about it.

    Dear Gaye,
Denmark and the UK was together at the bottom 🙁 As far as I understood it also concerned breast cancer, but still 75% survive so there are far worse diagnoses.
Myeloma UK seems to be a very effective organisation – I wish we had something like that!

    Hi Tom,

Although John was diagnosed back in March I still sometimes can't believe this has happened and my brain starts to try solving the problem. Seriously I have caught myself thinking about how to transfer years between people as if it was data between 2 computers. The powerlessness is overwhelming. I know I can't rescue him, but this arrangement still makes a little bit of sense so I will just work on that.
I support the "Onwards and Upwards"!

Thank you Tom! It is actually a concert and I'm gonna play, but I really feel I also need to say something. I have been playing for them before, but now after my experiences with mm it of course means much more to me. Just before Xmas I read in the newspaper that our country is far behind in diagnosing cancer. Basically people only know about breast cancer which the cancer organisation has done a lot to inform about. But other cancers are more or less forgotten 🙁
