Hi Cathy
I had my SCT 30 days ago so still very fresh in mind.Your husband is in isolation(a single room) which is hard, nursing staff will be in checking but also keeping contact to a minimum.Try to see this as a good thing as it will help to keep infections brought in to a minimum in my opinion. My appetite took a noise dive after the…[Read more]

Hi Cathy
7 days into SCT,sickness is what you can expect, have they not given you books to read about the procedure????.
It is not very nice to watch, but your husband will come out of this ok.
The reason the nurses have little contact is they try to keep him and other patients germ free, going from one isolation room to another, brings its own…[Read more]

Dear Pat
We all know whgat a horrible time it is waiting for diagnosis and, unfortunately, with Myeloma, it seems to go on and on!
Sorry you have had to join our group, but hope you find as much support from it as we all do. It is true, you do have to rely on your friends at this time. Aren't we lucky to have good friends and colleagues…[Read more]

Hi Ange
Like everyone else I am sorry you have had to join us. It is very confusing that MM is such an individual disease and it is sometimes particularly confusing if you have high para protein levels but still don't need treatment yet. This will be because you haven't any organ or bone damage. I do hope this situation lasts for a long…[Read more]

Dear Dai
I'm glad you have the emotional energy to take up your complaint this time. So many of us let it go because we can't face the effort needed.
I think some of the weakness inb the system, which allows things to be so dirty, is the division between nursing and cleaning staff, and the division between cleaning staff and staff who…[Read more]

Hi Dai
Do hope, that at last, you are really beginning to feel you are winning. I am so sorry that you have been fighting the staff as well as the condition. Why does it have to be so difficult. I often think we would be better organinsing our own meds!!
Best wishes and all my love.

I am glad that his numbers went up enough for things to get started, Vicki!
It was great that his appetite was improved, hopefully the first of many good meals to build him up before the SCT.
Sending you both my best wishes for an uneventful weekend.

We havent got to the steamfair for a few years, and left it too late to hire the "all terrain" mobility scooters onsite for this year, otherwise I would have threatened to call in and say Hello, Tina!
I hope you have a good few days (fingers crossed for not too much rain) and are able to return refreshed and fighting fit for your procedure in…[Read more]

Like the others I am hoping that no news is good news, Dai, and that you are either snugly tucked up in bed, with the nursing staff sorting out your latest infection or back home recuperating..
