  • The half/three quarter finished lyrics in progress got pushed back again by the emergence of this one from the left field this morning. Based loosely on a first-hand experience from a veteran of 28 – he was 20 at the time – I heard him speaking in a BBC programme a couple of years ago and his story resonated and stuck. The situation and location…[Read more]

Just a quick Hi to all the youngsters – I hope you are all doing reasonably well and finding life bearable with joy in the morning and a quick smile as you fall asleep. 😎

    Regards to all.:-)

    Hi Viv,

Recalling my CDT experience I was very similar to your Dad. All I can advise is to tell your Dad not to despair… its early days and the CDT is very actively fighting and killing off the cancer cells… but its also killing more than a good few ordinary but vital life cells… so its no surprise he is feeling absolutely drained of…[Read more]

    Hi Eva

I am putting so much down to 'Chemo Brain' these days… Tom tries to convince me its just old age but I like to have an excuse. Thanks for the info… its been noted and stored away safely for as or when needed.:-)

    Regards

    Dai.

    Hi Tom…

I had a 3:15 moment… and stayed awake for an hour or so, just catching up… but the good news is I had 4 hours before and 5 after… not bad for the night following a 'DEXDAY TM' and without any form of sleeping draughts (I don't bother because I know it won't do any good)… so I left it to nature and nature obliged.8-)

  • Hi Eve,

That's a very interesting point, conformity.

Once mm enters our lives everything changes, forever. After we have come to some sort of terms with the illness and its treatments etc., we try to fashion some sort of new reality, some sort of new 'normality'.

We have to conform to this new normality and then what? In with new and…[Read more]

    Hi Eve,

When I think of some of the hoops you two have had to jump through and the barriers, administrative, medical and staff related, that you had to take on, address and beat down… all of which should never have been put in place or, on a couple of occasions deliberately erected… well, suffice to say I am delighted that at such a…[Read more]

    Hi Paul,

When I had Dex as part of my frontline CDT I was wired – during the Velcade adventure I felt foggy… early indications (Week 4 Cycle 1) of Rev & Dex seem to be pointing to wired – I'm writing an album's worth of songs for February/March (9 of 14 completed) as well as getting on with my 2nd novel. My problem is trying to get some…[Read more]

  • I was 10 years old and in hospital for just over 3 months with a blood disorder (unrelated). A bout of measles at home meant no visitors for a 3 week period and I was feeling incredibly lonely. I had a dream in which I went through a series of preparations after which I calmly but unerringly died. I woke in a cold sweat… the ward was full but…[Read more]

Carol, thank you… I only take Dex once a week, so I have to make it stretch.:-D I am keeping notes of its effects during the week to see if any patterns develop. Tuesday is my nominated 'DEXDAY TM' so I imagine that Tues/Weds/Thurs will see the strongest effects with a tapering off towards Monday… but I will not be surprised in the least if…[Read more]

    Hi Carol,

Everything seems to be in place so all you can do now is to try and enjoy the ride..

… well, perhaps 'enjoy' is stretching it a bit but you sound like the sort of person who will take and make note of the experience.8-)

In the meantime enjoy your break in Spain… and while you are there try and mentally bottle some of the…[Read more]

Thank you all for reporting in. I am curious about what drug causes what… but moreover I want to work with my specialist nurse to try and find remedies for those side-effects that cause misery (rather than treatment threatening withdrawal).:-(

I suppose I want to find out the cause and effects of Dex because I hope to be on it for a long…[Read more]

  • Michelle,

All I can say is how sorry I am for you and your children… I hope that the love you shared with Phil will live on in you and yours… providing you with the strength to carry on together.

  • You are out… now stay out… and get stronger under your own steam.:-D

BUT… don't hesitate to call for help if you think something is wrong… there have been too many cases here of people (ahem) who think they should [b]'hang on for a while longer before I call in with this' [/b]etcetera.;-)

Good luck and good health Andy.:-)…[Read more]

  • Or Dexavicious… we certainly seem to have a love/hate relationship with this powerful but ambiguous drug. 😐

I have been having a few problems over the past three weeks since starting my Rev & Dex regime and I am trying to work out what is causing what. We know the usual suspect side-effects… bloatedness, attitudinal swings, feeling…[Read more]

  • Hi Nicola,

MM being what it is my wife, children and grandchildren have been slowly saying goodbye to me for the last 3 years.
