Great to hear your PP's have vanished, Mavis!

Now you can concentrate on getting your strength back.

P.S. My last (3 monthly) appointment was with a registrar rather than my usual consultant and he said "well, we have looked for PP's but cannot find any!" which sounded initially as if he was giving me bad news till my mind processed that into "zero PP's again"

Happy Belated Birthday to You, Tom, and congratulations to both you and Elaine on your double great news too!!

4 months between appointments is splendid!! I am only up to 3 months, so need to go some to catch you up 😉

    Keep on keeping on!

    Hi Stephen!

I don't know if you are able to get online from hospital, but realised you must be a few days into your SCT by now and hope all is going uneventfully for you.

I had mine in Aug/Sep 2010 in Bournemouth without too many problems and am still in complete remission, with now no medications apart from a monthly biosophonate (sp?) infusion and daily calcium pills, so hope you achieve similar results

    Best wishes

    Hi Ali!

I haven't logged on here for a while but wanted to wish your Mum well – by now I hope she has had her Hickman line fitted with no problems/discomfort and I have my fingers crossed that they do find her a bed so they can do #2 as well before sending her home.

My hair didn't start to fall out till I was about to go in to hospital for my stem cell return, and got gradually thinner while in hospital. I remember collecting a brushfull of hair on the day I went in, and small handfuls over the next few weeks. (I had long nearly waist-length hair then which I usually put up into a bun)

By the time I was discharged I still had fairly sparse locks all over which were hard to make look nice, so as soon as I got home I went over the road to our local barber and had him take it all off so I could start again.

I went from slaphead to suedehead beween September and Christmas (I wore my Broche knitted woolly hat for those months) then it got long enough to curl all over the place. Some people find it comes back stronger and curlier and even a different colour, so she has that to look forward to!!

My profile photo shows me about a year post SCT and you can see how it grew back over the year.

    Love from

    Congratulations on your remission, Avis!

It is good to hear that you are feeling able to carry on working now – but do make sure you listen to your body and take things easy if you feel you need to.

Thank you for making such a great contribution by persuading your company to "adopt" Myeloma UK as their charity to support this year.

My thoughts and prayers to you and your family at this sad time, Siobhan.

Like many of us here I never met or even spoke to your Mum, but her inspirational kind postings, private messages and emails helped me immensely especially at the beginning of my MM journey.

I will miss her immensely and think of her with fondness especially when I wear my red "Brocho" knitted hat.
