  • Dear Gill – your attempts to avoid any naughty word to describe your feelings were magnificent but they were understood all the same. I don't think many of us would have reacted any differently to you. My reaction after my first relapse was precisely the same. Lost the plot and needed another doctor to tell me all over again – I was devastated,…[Read more]

Dear Jean – so you think you can escape the cold and leave us floundering back here in good old and cold Blighty? Oh dear Jean – it's absolutely Sods Law isn't it and you both must be so fed up. During my recent stay in hospital due to an infection, I was given antibiotics and they certinly gave me a 'run' for my money. It was horrible and I can…[Read more]

  • Dear Min – The pox to myeloma. What an awful day for you and Peter not only with the news but how tiring it must have been. I have never heard of "the first kick in the slats" (I smiled a wry smile but not sure if I ought to) but it gave me an idea of what was to come. There's nothing I can say that could possibly take away the anger and…[Read more]

  • Dear Pamela and Bridget

Thank you for your lovely replies. Pamela, I see what you mean about good news and bad news. Great news about remission but not so good regarding your bones. Not being able to drive for so long would also cheese me off. I had a week of it with the snow and that was enough. Well another myeloma warrior facing yet…[Read more]

I remember a while ago we had a thread looking at BMBs and whether or not to have anaesthetic. Yesterday I had my 7th biopsy and it was one of the best I have had. Plenty of local anaesthetic and a good doctor who cared about my level of pain. It wasn't painful just slightly uncomfortable. May all your future biopsies be as good as this one…[Read more]

  • Dear Pamela – I am so sorry you are feeling a bit duffed up at the moment. MM has this habit of doing its own thing and I am in a similar place right now. One of the great things about being a Brit is that we tend to have a sense of the ridiculous and humour. I know that mine has kept me going through some dark hours and when I see a 'silly'…[Read more]

Dear Kevin – I have tried twice to reply to your posting Not So Good Today but for some reason it won't send. Rather than try on your posting again I have started a new thread so that hopefully I can get my message through to you.

I was so sorry to read your posting about your health at the moment and the confirmation that your allogenic…[Read more]

  • Well, we have had so much snow fall in this part of Essex that it has been estimated to be about two feet. No wonder I can't get my car out. Anyway I have taken a photo and here's what my road looks like.

Dear David – It was my intention to post to you but having just read about Bridget's latest escapades – a proposed Indian sun dance in Luton and walking in the snow like a ballerina with a bowel problem (and the bowel problem is probably not one you wish to discuss right now!) I was thrown off course, but have now happily composed myself!

    So…[Read more]

Do you know Nettie, I somehow get the feeling that you are really excited about's baby Erin's arrival and I also want to join everybody in congratulating you on your first grandchild! Such joy and I also love the name of Erin – it is such a beautiful name. The idea of Bridget doing an Indian sun dance in the snow is worrying but I would join her…[Read more]

  • Thanks Tom and Dai – every time I resd this poem it still makes me laugh so I am glad you both have enjoyed it. Sorry about your cracked lips Tom:-S – when is this blooming weather going to go away. I freely admit to being a southern softie – I am even proud of it. Hello Min – seems like the main roads are clear where you are but I bet the side roads are awful. Where do you live Min?

Yes, the beauty of it soon wears off and I too would be sharing your fed- upness with it all. We southerners are supposed to be complete wimps when it comes to snow – well I must admit to being one of them. Good luck!

  • Dear Jean and Bridget – glad you like this one. As you say Jean it's the last couple of lines that catch us unawares. It did me too!

As I look out of the window I can detect litle snow flakes – I hope they stay little and infrequent.

  • He didn't like the casserole
And he didn't like my cake
He said my biscuits were too hard
Not like his mother used to make.
I didn't perc the coffee right
    He didn't like the stew,
    I didn't mend his socks
The way his mother used to do.
    I pondered for an answer
I was looking for a clue.
So I turned around and smacked him one

Good morning David – glad to hear that you are still 10 in your happiness rating. I agree with all the other postings – you are a positive young man (note the creeping here David with young man!). Here in sunny Essex it is bitterly cold but a lovely blue sky and lots of frost – but no snow as yet.

They were wonderful and all I had to do was ask for…[Read more]

Hello Michelle – yes, itching is a side effect of Revlimid and I experienced it to a lesser degree. I didn't use any creams but I would suggest you contact Mum's team and tell them so that they can perhaps recommend a cream that will relieve the itching.

I do hope that Revlimid will help her. Will be thinking of you both.
