    Hi Chrissie
How are you? very worried I suspect and you have to take care of you as much as your husband. Its not easy but if you don't look after yourself you wont be able to care for him. Try and take some time out if possible and just escape the turmoil.

    Im so sorry Bridget,
I thought the Marie Curie nurses were able to provide beds at home. And or Macmillan!? I think they may require some notice to be able to.

  • Hi Chrissie sorry I didnt understand at first Oramorph is horrible I cant take it either but it might still be worth asking about alternatives like patches or slow release morphine I have found they are very good at seeking a solution once they realise how miserable pain is making your life Has there been any suggestion of radiotherapy for his…[Read more]

This evening I heard the news my lovely father-in-law is unlikely to last the weekend He has advanced kidney cancer and is 83 but it still seems too young He was only diagnosed last year , although he did have a kidney removed 20 years ago, and up until the diagnosis was a fit strong man for his age At first he was upbeat and keen to take any…[Read more]

  • Hi Chrissie I can understand how hard it must be for you to watch your husband having to go through treatment and there is a time where yhings seem worse But this is usually because they need to hit the caner cells hard to get rid if as many as possible as quickly as possible If he is now going to have Velcade I would think they must be reasonably…[Read more]

We are not sure Dai, my limited understanding is…… because he did not get his light chains to zero last time they intend to attempt that this happens this time. Soooo it may be that he has to have another mega dose of melphalan before the one prior to transplant. Ideally they want to avoid infections and his needing lots of blood products.…[Read more]
