Hi Sarah Jane
Very good response there, keep it up, I did the same as Andy when I had the cyclophosphamide, Ondansetron regularly worked well for me. I was on Revlimid too and went to 0 in 2 moths, been there ever since!

Dear Tom
Prior to Zometa I always have a couple of paracetamol, I've always had those aches and pains with it, it lasts 4 days for me and is kept at bay with regular doses of said paracetamol and the occasional codeine if I forget. Some people never react to it, some only to the first one and others at every time, just another of those…[Read more]

Thanks very much Jean and Megan, some times it feels a bit mean talking about good news when there are so many others just coming to terms with the diagnosis, treatment or relapse. But I suppose we should be balanced, and remission is what we all hope for, for as long as possible. I went to see The Hobbit tonight and need to see the next 2…[Read more]

Well, 2 years ago today I started the investigations into my slowly developing anaemia.
4 years of gradually dropping haemoglobin levels had led the National Blood Service to ban me from being a blood donor ever again, so I went to haematology. I remember looking at all the cancer literature and thinking ' how ridiculous' I shouldn't be here,…[Read more]

Dear Jean
I've just read what Dai wrote on here a few days ago and can't add anything to that, I took 11 months to feel normal after my SCT, it is a terribly slow recovery sometimes. Now I'm able to do so much more but I did think I'd never get to this point. I felt really well for a couple of weeks after my harvest settled down too so it sounds…[Read more]

Helen replied to the topic Sore tongue advice in the forum Side-effects 11 years, 11 months ago
Hi Emma
2 things, if mouthwash stings ,and is her tongue very red? with white patches? If so I'd very tactfully suggest your mum has mouth swabs taken, could be thrush, very common on high dose dex, then she needs correct treatment . Soon or she wont feel like drinking if her mouth gets too sore. Try not to get too het up about the ward, it's…[Read more]

Good to hear your mum is not confined to bed, that wouldn't be easy to endure. I hope you don't have too far to travel to visit her and that the weather stays kind to you. Love Helen

I can't really contribute anything to this thread – other than I am reading it with interest. However, as I've not spoken to you for a while I just thought I'd say hello, offer the usual seasonal greetings, hope your treatment plan goes well, is there a tentative start date? …….and send you a photo of my half decorated christmas tree…[Read more]

Dear Emma
It is an anxious time, and yes you do have some of these procedures done, not knowing what the outcome will be. However the risks of not doing anything can sometimes be worse than the treatment. The important thing is to be sure that the choice your mum makes is one that she is comfortable with. I really hope tomorrow goes ok, keep in…[Read more]

Hello Tom
If you look in the patient services section of the site , in the bottom left corner is a section called clinical trial tracker which will tell you what is available now in the UK in the way of current trials in your geographical area, and Amelie has recently reopened a long discussion in the general section about trials, under the…[Read more]

This really is tough for you all and I hope your mum is able to make the right decision for her, whenever and what ever they decide. My word that's a bolt from the blue, do they plan to get him in for transplant before Christmas too, or just do the collection? Better book into someone else's house for Christmas lunch I think, it's going to be very busy. Keep us posted on the progress
