Hi David
How I sympathise about your battle with pain. I am going through the same thing and my Consultant doesn't want me to take anti-inflamatories because of my kidneys. I have had to start again. Like you I have a goal in view. Visiting my daughter in Luxembourg in July – she is moving there with our only grandchildren so I have got to…[Read more]

Dear Andy,
Like everyone else I am so pleased to hear your news. Keep getting those PPs down. Like Helen, although not a young one like her, I agree it's not all about SCTs these days.
Very best wishes to you and Steph have a great holiday.

Hi Folk!
It struck me in the early hours that I am 8 months into my remission following CDT. As I thought about it, I realised that I had never really internalised how thankful I should be to those who developed these drugs, and those who were ready to enter Trials about combinations of drugs and safe and most effective dosage. I say now ……[Read more]

Hi Dai
I agree with you Post, but have you any ideas as to how we can take things forward. Do we need to ask the CO ofMUK to take this forward. The myeloma web site in America seems to have been able to make a real difference. Of course they have the advantage of scale, but still a Voluntary Org.
I have just responded to a…[Read more]

Hi Helen
Sorry you had all this to cope with just when you were through the worst after SCT. Just hope it all turns out to be a blip. I remember once, on a pre-op session, being told that I had a silent heart attack. Carrying this worry for years, a later ECG showed no sign of it, so it shows they can get things wrong.
Love.

Hi Tony
I agree with Helen, your post was very encouraging. Has your MM had any bone involvement.
Yes, I know how we all worry about the numbers. I find it hard to get results too which is frustrating.
Very best wishes. Don't work your life away, but may your non treatment phase last for years.

Hi Ann
So sorry to have to welcome you to the Forum. As everyone has said, everyone's MM journey is different. If your blood shows Paraprotein, the level of PP at diagnosis, and the rate at which the readings rise will influence decisions about treatment regime. It might be useful to speak Myeloma UK Specialist Nurse with your specific…[Read more]

Hi
Welcome from me. Like everyone else I'd encourage you to continue with CDT. I had a sickness episode and was in hospital for a week and I had shingles, but six months on from the end of six cycles, and still in remission, I am glad I had it.
All best wishes.

Hi Gill
Yes, what a lovely picture. Stephen obviously had a lovely friend in his dog!
I was mentioning about talking to a photo, in an earlier post, this would be a lovely picture to "talk" to.
Take care and continue to be kind to yourself.

Hi San
Sorry your Mum is having such a hard time. Does your Mum have any arthritis by any chance as my Pain Nurse says the morphine type drugs don't help that pain so I am taking anti-inflamitories as well.
I have also begun to have some physio at home and the exercises are certainly helping my back by strengthening my muscles.
Do keep…[Read more]

Hi Gill
In view of the short time since you lost Stephen you sound to be doing well. I used to talk to my Mum's photo for ages after she died. I found it really comforting and often seemed to get "advice"!
Keep doing good.

I'm affraid i don't have any survival techniques for you, but just wanted you to know you are not on your own out there. Do be kind to yourself and don't expect too much of yourself. Dear Sandie
I am so sorry to hear your Mum's bad news. It does seem very unfair doesn't it. I am only glad it is not agressive so you can make the decision to make any treatment low key. I have heard that breast cancers grow very slowly in the elderly so let's hope this is the case with your Mum – she has enough to cope with. I pray you…[Read more]
