I had my SCT in February 2012 and was told by my specialist that she would be writing to my doctor in February 2013 regarding vaccinations.

As far as animals are concerned, I did let my husband see to our chickens for a few weeks following SCT but soon started handling them again with no problems.

I'm quite surprised by your comment about finding it hard to find anything about "how I can expect to feel when I get through the CTD and STC".

There are plenty of good-news posts on various threads!

Fortunately the general answer to your question seems to be "I feel it was all worthwhile as it's made me feel so good…[Read more]

    Hi Tina

I hope you enjoyed the Great Dorset Steam Fair. We went to the Dorset County Show instead this year. A great day out where normality reigned!

I had my hickman line fitted 2 days before my actual SCT and not for priming.

I was given a choice of "being put out" or just having a local anaesthetic. I chose a local so that I could get…[Read more]

    Hi Vicki and Colin

Well am sorry its a none starter again 🙁 I do feel for you both and wish I could get hold of some one and give them a good shake for them to get a move on.

I like you two have sat back and let it all take its course but it has worked for me so far BUT I would be up in arms if I was same as Colin camping out in the…[Read more]

    Hi Vickie
Sorry to hear that things are no better. I know it can be difficult with some consultants, they seem to be "the all powerful" but they are human. So as you say be assertive Vickie, have a written list of questions so there is nothing left out. When we visit consultant I take a little recorder to record the consult, as I have the worse…[Read more]

    Hiya.
I think you'll find we all struggle with sleep at times. I'm not working so I can nap during the day if need be. Fatigue is also a side effect of mm and you need to listen to your body and rest up when it tells you. Steroids are especially hard on sleep. You need the support of family, friends and work to help through the difficult mm…[Read more]

    Hi Eve.
It's great news that Slim is in complete remission and you can think of trips away rather than trips to the hospital. With all that you have both been through recently you deserve some good times. Have a great time on your trips away.
    All the best

    Hi Vicki & Colin.
I'm so sorry to read your post. It must be heartbreaking. Hopefully tomorrow will bring a big change. I know what a big blow being told something isn't working is. I hope they allow you to use plerixafor to boost Colin's cell production. I've not been down the sct road but I'm sure there must be another plan. To get so close…[Read more]

    Hi everyone.
Thanks for all the posts. It's a strange old disease this mm if it wasn't for my back I wouldn't know I was ill. Oh and besides the drugs side effects which luckily I don't suffer too badly from. All my fiends say when I meet them that I look well! I'm even getting my taste for beer back – though the hangovers are a little to easily…[Read more]

  • Wendy I understand where you are coming from, there has been some bad news from our friends. But I agree it is very uplifting for people like me to read stories like yours and Eve's, it makes me feel like there is light at the end of the tunnel and not another blo*dy train coming. Thanks for sharing

    Hi Vicki

Are they trying again tomorrow? Oh I really hope that it works this time. It really makes me sick with this post code lottery. If someone needs medication it should not make a difference where the h*ll they live. I am like you Vickie I worry if I'm not worried. I questioned the SCT co ordinator if the Belfast trust funded prelixfor.…[Read more]

My Dr had a Nurse fetch my stuff up to the clinic and if i needed any thing else my Nurse Heln woulg go and fetch it 🙂
