    Hi there,

Can’t share experiences on the trial because I live in Germany and the medical system here is different although the treatment seems to be the same. What I will say is that your situation is similar to ours in that my daughter was 5 when I was diagnosed. We didn’t know what to say to her because of her age – just what do you tell a 5…[Read more]

    Hi Everyone.

Three years ago today the words Multiple Myeloma entered my world. What a roller coaster it been.

Got my latest blood results Thursday and they were all ok though I was a little anaemic. However my PPs were below 8 the lowest they’ve been since that fateful day 3 years ago! Hopefully pomalidomide can keep working it’s magic.

    Every…[Read more]

  • Hi Kaye

I am so sorry for your families loss and for the way the Myeloma progressed without being spotted,I personally think people should learn all they can,and not have this blind faith in doctors,at the end of the day, they are just trained people, and family should ask questions, even if it’s only for your peace of mind.

    When people are…[Read more]

    Hi Tom,

Sorry to hear it’s been confirmed but with a bit of Positive Mental Attitude there’s no reason why can’t achieve a second remission and for a long time.

  • Hi Susie, I am monitored 6 weekly at present, last PP was 39. It is an awful disease and different for everyone which I think makes it challenging to manage.

I was only diagnosed in April this year so still trying to come to terms with it all.

I haven’t had a bone marrow biopsy as blood tests don’t show any end organ damage.

    Hope you are t…[Read more]

Occupations have been talked about concerning Myeloma,

If you think about it chemicals exist in basic materials for every day use,for example wrapping on food, which is put into a microwave !!,

Jobs that you have done in your life ,Farmers service Men,anyone who came into contact with Chemicals,I think why there is no direct research into this is…[Read more]

  • Hi Jan

How are things,!!! I do not post so much now but look in to see how everyone is doing, and looking at your post I thought you needed some surpport at this stage you are at!!!!

The doctors are telling you to prepare yourselfs, and it’s not a bad way to go,because if this does happen at least it will not be such a shock as last time, and…[Read more]

  • Hi Susie,

Hope all goes well for you on the second cycle and not too many side effects.

I had a monitoring appt recently and numbers up again, but no signs of any end organ damage and I feel OK in myself so continuing on the wait and watch protocol for asymptomatic.

It is so hard to define ” fatigue” isn’t it as sometimes I am really tired by…[Read more]

    Hi Tom,

With my last post i forgot to mention that in April I had an increase in pain in my shoulders exactly where it was before. Like you I thought it was on the increase and informed the mediccs. They arranged an MRT and it showed no worsening at all since the last one November last year. Every blood test since then has come back with the same…[Read more]

  • Hi Susie, hoping you are doing OK and coping with the treatment regime.

  • Hi Jan, what an awful experience for you both, I am not surprised you have been scared and hope he is getting sorted out by the Doctors.

Do you think that you could use some counselling? it must have been so traumatic for you and might help to “talk it through”

    Hope things start to improve

    Kind regards

Hi smoulderers. I think that is right.

Although there are a lot of treatments out there. Not all work for everyone and to date all seem to fail eventually even if they do work initially. So the longer you can put off starting the treatment journey the better in my opinion.  Bisphophanates are used to strengthen your bones due to Myeloma being…[Read more]

    Hi Brian

Sorry to welcome you to the MM club. I got a lot of helpful advice on the “confusing journey” thread.

I too hope to stay asymptomatic for as long as possible. The hardest part has been getting my head around the no treatment until there are signs and symptoms that the MM is causing end organ damage. It has been described as the Sword of…[Read more]

    Hi all

My husband Frank was diagnosed with smouldering myeloma in September 2006. He had all the usual. BMB, scans etc. the only treatment he had was Zometa, bone strengthening infusions. Last year in April my husband was turning 70. Although his blood results were good and felt ok his consultant decided to do a SCT. He went through this in…[Read more]

    Tom,

Our fears always play on our minds and we always think of the worse. Wait until confirmation one way or the other from your medics. There might be a small chance that it’s unrelated.
