  • Jeff Frank takes the tablets twice a day and they are 75mg. He had horrendous pain from and after the shingles. He said he felt like a gorilla was crushing every bone in his body. Once he started the tablets he felt a lot better but still gets some pain but not as bad as what it was. Consultant said months ago he could have this pain for some time…[Read more]

  • Jeff not sure if this is related. My husband was prescribed Pregabalin for pain after a bout of shingles. His consultant told him not to stop them unless he discussed it with her. She said he would have to be weaned off them. He got up yesterday and felt terrible (he’s been feeling good for some time). He said he was feeling so weird and no…[Read more]

    Hi eve,

I hope Tuesday went as you planned, I am sure you gave Slim a good send off and now, as you say, you have a new journey to make alone. However, that doesn’t mean to say that you will be without us all on this site. Theoretically, you have no reason to be here but you have become a Myeloma Oracle and your knowledge can help so many. I…[Read more]

Hello Everyone, well it’s 6am,and today I am coming to the end of a journey!

Last day to make sure every thing goes right, visited Slim yesterday, and took masses of Sunflowers to line his coffin,if you have followed this journey you will know how much we enjoyed France and the fields of sunflowers, they represent a big part of our lives together, all…[Read more]

  • Hi Susie.

Its Dex that needs to be taken with food.  Cyclophosphamide needs lots of water.

I found that cyclophosphamide was worse for side effects than  Dex. It makes you feel sickly for a few days well it did in my case. It also killed my sense of smell and taste and it made concentration very hard. I stopped driving because of it and found r…[Read more]

    Hi there,

I think you need to check if the test was done at the same laborotory, different labs can give different results. You also need to check other indicators such as the light chains. I would have thought that your Consultant would look at a range of indicators before making a decision. Just as an indicator of how PP’s can alter is that the…[Read more]

  • Hi Stuart.

I posted a few times and I’ve had no problems with the predictive text.

The only problem I’ve come across is when I press return at the end of a paragraph the first letter doesn’t automatically capitalise on the new line.

Ah it does if I put a space after the full stop! Guess your never too old to learn something new.

    Thanks for you…[Read more]

  • Hi Susie.

I found the first few cycles of chemo very bad and I think they made me feel quite ill. Have you been given Omeprazole to take before taking the Dex? It’s to protect you from stomach problems. Also don’t take the Dex on an empty stomach I take mine after eating. Cyclophosphamide needs to be taken with plenty of water.

    You’ve probably…[Read more]

  • Hi Susie,

Sorry I can’t help you with advice re the meds regime but sending you a virtual hug. Hope you are feeling a little better now. One of the posts on the “confusing journey” thread advised me to listen to my body and rest when it was telling me to.

Seems good advice particularly as you adjust to the effects the drugs are having upon you.…[Read more]

  • Hi Susie.

I  was on 40mg of  Dex so that was 20 of the little blighters for four days! Fortunately they cover the nausea from the cyclophosomide  for the first week. The down side was the crash after you stop the Dex.

I’m still on 40mg of Dex and take the 20 little blighters every week! Though I’m not missing not taking the cyclophosomide .…[Read more]

    Hi Andy

The general rule is to stop Zometa 3 months before any dental extractions due to the risk of osteonacrosis of the jaw. Exposed bone is the problem as it dies. I’ve not heard of anyone having a tooth extracted so soon after a Zometa infusion but there is exceptions to every rule. I do know you need a dental exam before SCT so I’m guessing…[Read more]

  • I will do Stuart. It may take a while because I’m not posting as much lately as I used to  but I’ll try and give it some stick over the next few days

    Thanks for your help.

  • Hi Stuart.

    Hi Stuart
I don’t seem to have that option. Unless I’m missing something.
    Any help would be appreciated.

I use predictive all the time Richard the only time I have any problems is on here. Changing and to bad! Why? Sometimes changing two word at the same time. Maybe it’s just me or the Dex effect lol.

    Hi Gill

Reading your posting, you could have been talking about Slim, Stephen and Slim must have come out of the same mould. Lol

One of the people from the past described Slim as a gently giant, that was her memory as a little girl.
I had to stop and think about the way she saw him. The last four years took there toll as he fought to stay alive,…[Read more]
