    Hi Carol
Well my hair definitely started to thin when I was taking the CTD drugs and came out very quickly once I’d been prepared for stem-cell harvest.
Like yours, my scalp was very sore.
When I had the final “toxic” dose of chemo in SCT week, that sealed my hairs fate and it literally fell out completely one night.
My pillow looked as though a…[Read more]

  • Hi Ang, all moving along nicely with graham then. I’m sure the SCT won’t be longer after the consent. I’m dreading coming back home after because my wife has already got plans to put me in quarentine. Our daughter will also bring back various forms of mutant strains of bacteria and viruses from school that I will have to be wary of but I’m sure…[Read more]

Carol, firstly Merry Christmas. Re SCT it’s your decision but let me say that I had a SCT in February, not the most pleasant of experiences, but you can do it. It took a while to get back to normal, but now I feel great my PPs are down to 2. We have travelled abroad and spent time around this country. I now have 3 monthly appointments at the…[Read more]

  • Hi Carol,

Good news about the stemcellharvest, lets hope you have enough. Just the SCT to go now and then the long road to recovery for all of us. I have my date for going in, that’s 10 Jan. The week before it’s a trip to the dentist, an ENT specialist, lung and heart checks. Already received the container for urine test and a stool test as well…[Read more]

  • I’m a carer and I know how you are feeling. Frank smouldered for 7 years. I always had this scared feeling in my stomach. I went to a counsellor and it really helped me. I don’t know why it’s taking so long to see one. I went to the Macmillan centre attached to our hospital and talked to someone there and told them exactly how I was feeling. I got…[Read more]

    Hi Frances

My husband had STC IN March this year and turnd 70 in April. Consultant told us that they don’t usually do SCT at 70 but she said that Frank was fit and healthy (!!!!!). He had heart and lung tests and all was ok. I think it depends on your fitness. There are quiet a few people on the forum who decided against SCT and are doing ok. I…[Read more]

Frank is a bit like Colin. Last week he was up and down. Every day was different. One day he cleaned all the windows inside with no problem. Next day he was knackered. This week he’s been great. Hi, almost the same as jeans husband I was 68+ when I had my stem cell transplant! last February. The only treatment I have now is a monthly penidronate infusion, visit the specialist every three months. So it can be done.
    Hope your dad stays strong.
