Hi Vikki and Colin
Don't apologise Vikki I know exactly how you are feeling. :-S congratulations on your promotion well done you. I don't want to sound selfish but three years ago I had the chance of taking early retirement and after talking it over with Frank I did. Don't get me wrong I wouldn't change it but I sometimes wish that I had…[Read more]

Mind running riot. As Franks PPs were dropping long before CDT consultant suspected non secretory. Nothing was done to find out but Ellen had said it would be very unusual to change after 6 years. As far as I know a BMB is the way to find out if there is any progression of the MM. seeing her on Thursday so will ask then

Hi all
Just come back from hospital. Dr came and said Franks bloods were good, WCC down a little but not much. No protein detectable and no indications of Myeloma in blood. Wants to see him again on Thursday. Trying not to get excited as it seems very quick but consultant is very pleased with him. Does this happen this quickly?
Love to all
Jean xx

I think the person who told you that was talking about all cancers,
For example myeloma if caught early there is less damage to bones nothing to do with age,but a younger person is fitter and healthy than a 70. Year old.
My husband is 69 this year used to be very fit ,so was able to have SCT but at his age will not be offered…[Read more]

Chemo cancelled again, this time because of liver. My Aspartate Aminotransferase (AST) level apparently should 0-50 and is at nearly 300, my Alanin Aminotransferase was 20, now its 400. The Onkologist thinks it's caused by the red drug in the Chemo, he's done a ultra scan of the liver and that is ok.
Back on Thursday for another check. I don't…[Read more]

Hi Dai.
Keith is married to a lovely woman. They're always together when I see them at the hospital for treatment or at the support group. I don't know if they have children.
Regarding his posts we've all been there when we are feeling a bit under the weather and can't be bothered posting. I myself don't post much now not because I'm not well it…[Read more]

My HGV medical is due and I've been trying to find information on the net about renewal of the licence. I checked the DVLA website and found that MM is not listed as an illness likely to affect your driving licence. Is there anyone else here with MM and an HGV licence? Has anyone had experience of trying to renew a HGV licence with this…[Read more]

Hmmm not sure if I've mentioned this, if I have sorry for the repeat – chemo is killing my memory :-/

Hi Tina.
I was at the day case unit Friday, Keith and I go to North Tees, and I asked about him. Of course they couldn't tell me anything about his condition but they let me know he was on the ward. As you may know he has been in and out of hospital since new year and regularly at the day case unt. I've recently gone from weekly visits to monthly…[Read more]

Hi Gill
I lost my mom almost a year ago to acute myeloid leukaemia (AML). She was unexpectedly admitted to hospital with a high white cell count and diagnosed immediately with AML. Unfortunately, she died ten days later due to a fungal and viral infection in her lungs. She was treated on the same ward/same hospital as my myeloma treatment…[Read more]

Would like to know more,as when I approached the subject of Velcade again it was. not recieved very well. I just think Slim did well on Velcade, and he is starting to use options up quickly without much remission or in the case of CDT,it was in affective.

Hi San,
Can't be nice for you or your mother. I am certain that if we'd stayed in the UK my MM wouldn't have been picked up until a lot later, like your mother. There is a difference in attitude here, it's about spotting things early so that costs are kept down later, the UK seems to be about saving cash upfront which then leads to excessive…[Read more]
